Good player. If he is the one or the most gettable etc etc then fine. I think he will do a good job for us. Not Gareth Bale exciting but a good signing nonetheless.
I do wonder, with no disrespect to Young Josh, if this is ready to go upon realising another target can not be secured as we get closer to Desdline day. Let’s see

Would not be upset about this at all. He's pretty versatile, could function in a 2 striker formation with Kane and feel like he's not going to block Parrott's route to the first team in a couple year's time. He's not amazing, and I'd prefer Edouard, Weghorst and to a lesser extent Milik, but as I mentioned previously, it does make sense.

Waiting 1 year.
Point is, GB, or Son, are better down the middle than pretty much every forwards available for under £40/50m.

Better point is they play wide and then can’t Cover for Kane when he needs a rest

otherwise they too are overplayed

That’s why we need another body in

I forgot we’d sold all of Lucas, Bergwijn and Lamela, I’m guessing we will be punished for playing them last night then.

Where have I said we don’t need another body in? I’m merely contesting the notion that King would not suffice.

I have no issue with signing a prem proven, versatile forward who is best at striker. I don't know why some do. He may not be as flashy as some of the other names we've been linked with, and he may not fit Jose's preferred profile, but if he signs, we know damn sure Jose has signed off on it. This is what is great about Jose. We've been told he's been very flexible this window, and there is no doubt in my mind that he'll get the best out of any no. 9 we sign.

Do we think West Ham would sell us Antonio? Would be another good HG option perfect for a Jose team. If the price is similar or a little less due to age then I think he would be preferable for Mourinho's style.

Doubt he’d play a single game alongside Kane unless we had an injury crisis. Kane at 9 and Son and Bale obvs first choice King would be behind Lucas, Bergwijn and on current form Lamela too for a starting spot in front 3. He’s just Kane’s backup and a starter instead of him in easy EL and cup games.

I’m good with him, he’s mobile and has shown the ability to score PL goals.

you’ll have to ask Jose why he played Son every game before he broke while having those assets available...

why is it relevant whether you think Son is better or has a higher price tag than potential signing x or y?

Jose has said plenty of times at Manchester United and here that he needs presence in the box against defensive sides. I just don't see King being the type he would go for, but there's definitely worse options.

Precisely my thoughts. We’d need to look at it as a front 3 with the following players competing for positions (ordered by likelihood to play down the middle):

  • Kane
  • Son
  • Bale
  • King
  • Lamela
  • Lucas
  • Bergwijn
  • Dele

I would but my direct line to him isn’t working, go figure. I’d suggest that he felt two matches per week was perfectly manageable in the first 15 days of the season after the summer break and therefore, given that Son is one of our best players, and definitely our best wide player, it seemed sensible to play him in hope of having a better chance of winning. Like I said, I don’t have a direct working line to Jose so I could be wrong.

It’s only relevant in so much as it’s the basis of my reasoning. Undoubtedly you disagree with my reasoning, and of course you may be right, but then again you may not. Doesn’t really matter either way.

Have a good day.

Meh. But having him here already would have allowed us to rest Kane against some of these Europa teams that we’ve faced so far.

Was hoping for someone just a little bit better to push Kane.

Why is it a good thing a forward can play wide? Especially not so in our team isn't it? We had enough of wide players. Give me a bullish traditional forward/striker who will always be the top of the formation and let the true wide players pass to him! The Ibras, the Lewas, the Cavanis, the Costas. No N'jies! No Depays! No Kings!

Cavani would have been an interesting choice on a years contract. Free agent and only 33.

If that were a goer I think it's obvious we'd have signed him by now. Can only assume it's one or all of wages, him wanting to be first choice and bigger clubs interested.

...because here, being a back up CF is like being a back up goalkeeper. He’s barely going to play. If he can play other positions he’ll get more game time and we’ll get more value

Man U also want a striker, are interested in him, he is in them and is probably their option if they get no other in. If we are waiting to bid for him on deadline day and it goes down to a choice for him between them and us, he ain’t coming to us. A dangerous game to play.

Agreed, let’s hope we get one of our more favoured targets anyway.

Alasdair Gold saying we're close on a striker with the name yet to be revealed due to talks being in a "delicate stage". Forgive me for thinking it's not Josh King he's talking about, as surely talks with Bournemouth would be relatively straight forward.
