Spot on. JM's strategy and tactics are hopelessly outdated. He is continually outwitted by more modern coaches such as at Chelsea and even Norwich! Then all he can do is publicly humiliate his players - such as Ndombele - and whine about injuries that are actually a fact of life in the cauldron of the modern game. Many on here have rightly flagged up the shortcomings of the current squad - a rebuild is needed for sure - but a proper manager gets the best from the players he has available. Only an arrogant has-been blames his team.
This is the point, we need a huge re-build but we shouldn't have Jose as the man to lead it, will only end in tears as it already is looking like a car crash anyway.

We also missed a trick Glenn Hoddle summed it up superbly on BT sports. After the CL final win lose or draw we were in a position of strength and this was the season we should have really backed Pochittno . Now it seems desperate
Ummm.. poch was backed last summer... Christ

Your bound to concede goals and make errors if you're being constantly dominated. Defence and keeper under constant bombardment

That's correct, but when your midfielders (Ndombele) dont want the ball and you dont have a forward who can hold the ball up, what do you expect?

I expect him to be dropped and replaced by other players who will fail in the same system.

But that’s just me.

I said i won’t moan about him anymore and I'm going to try to stick to that while remaining in the debate. The fact that Kane supposedly wants to leave, he's taken a look at what Mourinho has to offer and decided to try and leave the club as soon as possible.

How do we look at this within the context of giving Mourinho time?

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but the 2nd half display at Burnley was a prime example that Jose doesnt want to play long ball, he wants to play and having a midfielder that wants to take the game by the scruff of the neck is vital in that.

The second half display against Burnley just showed we could be average. It was nothing special. But that was an improvement on being dogshit.

Spending money and implementing the wishes of your manager are two drastically different things.

That depends what his wishes were. Does anyone here categorically know what they were?

If he wanted Eriksen, Toby, Jan, Aurier et al out, fair enough but Levy can't make them leave.

That's not the point. He's basically telling our team that they aren't good enough. How's that going to help them? Compare that to the quotes from Poch that Dougal posted a few pages back. No excuses or criticism there. He takes responsibility and shows leadership.

What we are getting with Jose is sulking. I guess we will see the effect of these comments at the weekend...

Because nothing ever is his fault. 15M a year and void of all accountability. The man is a genius.

Was he?

So why the heck was Jack Clarke signed.
Why was Rose, Verts, Toby and Eriksen still there at the window

Signing two players does not mean backing the manager when you have not signed anyone for over a year.
Jack Clarke was signed to keep @BringBack_leGin happy. And he went straight out on loan and was never played. Not sure how his signing suggests poch wasn’t backed ?

Players still there because they wouldn’t leave/ no suitable buyer? What would you have tried to do differently?

Im obviously not going to change your mind, and you clearly have a strong opinion on Jose but a knock on of the catastrophic injury list we've had has been not being able to rotate fully, even after extra time and penalties less than 3 days earlier.

Off the back of games that any team could lose however strong (leipzig, Chelsea, wolves) all using essentially the same 14 players they were tired and lacking confidence which showed. Do you genuinely think another manager would have had them playing significantly better?

A defence that isn't good enough, and a injury ravaged attack, with the filling of this shit sandwich being your record signing who cant be fucked to run. Anyone would struggle. I simply refuse to believe that any of these up and coming hipster coaches that people suggest would have us playing like 1970 brazil

Jose's pre match comments, have seemed very defeatist to me lately

Excuses made before the event, deflecting any blame or responsibility from himself

Indirectly saying the players are not good enough, (gun fight with no bullets etc), to me this seems like poor man management and motivational tactics

I expected a man of his experience and talent to at least be able to put a team out with a clear tactic and purpose, to have them performing better than the sum of their parts. So even if the squad is depleted and they can not perform to their best, they will still give their all and produce better than expected

To me, we seem to be completely passive, we line up with the same out dated tactics, no press, uncomfortable and lacking confidence (man management has some role in this)

I thought Jose would be showing something more, I can't say that I believe Jose is getting more out of this squad at this time than any lesser qualified manager could/would and I strongly suspect a fresher, more modern progressive coach could get more from them than he currently is (even in this depleted state)

Klopp beat Barca last year, while 3-0, with many of their best players missing, because his tactics allowed players to be interchangeable, he motivated his troops and they attacked. This is what I want to see from a manager

Yes I understand Klopp had time and money to build a squad and bond with players to be able to produce this, and yes we have to give Jose time and money to prove what he can do before we write him off

However, my gut feeling, I am of course no football expert, just a fan with a uneducated/emotionally influence opinion, but my gut feeling from all I have seen so far during Jose's tenor, is that he is outdated and no longer at the top and that he was the wrong man (or the right man at the wrong time) for our club and this isn't going to end well

So 4 transfers that Poch wanted isn't implementing the wishes of your manager?

not if he wanted certain players to be moved on and they subsequently wasn’t.

edit - also on record Poch said he didn’t want or have any plans for Clarke. So that’s 3 players rather than 4.
