Also, I just feel like people need to let go of their dislike for Jose - the guy is a serial winner and he struggled here with a squad full of players one manager before him and 2 managers after him could barely get a tune out of.

Funny how when we got rid of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli and brought in some proper replacements we suddenly looked a better team.

You don't have to like him or think he did a great job, but denying his pedigree and achievements comes across as salty as fuck.

Not sure Spurs fans should be sneering at any trophy tbh.
Bit like a homeless dude mocking another homeless dude for getting a caravan.

The Championship is one of the strongest leagues in Europe outside of the PL, but I sure as shit don't want to be in with a chance of winning it.

The ECL is the same. You either have to not be in the CL, or you have to tumble through the better competitions to be in it, or simply finish low enough in the league. Not long ago the Europa League was considered unworthy, and I get why people suddenly rate it (CL qualys), but it's pitiful to consider the Conference League as a majestic accomplishment.

I don't think your analogy checks out - it's more like a virgin taking the piss out of another guy for having lost his virginity to miss piggy

To be in the championship we would have to get relegated.

To get into the ECL you would have to be the 7th best team in this entire country which when you consider the potential top six of Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Man U, Arsenal and soon a top 7 including Newcastle, is not an easy feat for most teams in the prem.

I'm not sure your analogy works out well either.

We'll go with your analogy then... the remaining virgin should pipe the fuck down.

Or simply not boast about shagging miss piggy.

It's like celebrating the Charity Shield. Our aims and ambitions are much higher, even if some of the fanbase have a thirst for meaningless pots.

It works out very well. Would you celebrate finishing 7th, with that mental gymnastics? That's something you'd expect of West Ham or Newcastle, who I'm sure would love to win the Conference Pot, but ask yourself this - which do you think elevates a club more, in finances and attraction to players? Simply playing in the champions league, or winning the conference league, which is two tiers below that?

A top 4 finish and playing in the Champions League is a bigger pull than being ECL winners, but say we'd finished our season last weekend in 4th place and then gone on to win the ECL final. I have no doubt we'd be celebrating it akin to winning a League Cup. Whether that would have been possible with our squad depth and lack of Conte pre-season is anyone's guess, but I for one would have been celebrating it because it would have meant we'd beaten a number of teams in high pressure knockout games.

A Community Shield or Club World Cup is different because in order to play in those you'd have to have already won a major tournament in the first place.

Back on Mourinho. Happy for him and for Roma. It meant a lot to them and I've always had a soft spot for Jose, even if he wasn't the right fit for Spurs.

That's not really the situation though. It's not a 'cherry on the cake', but simply as a standalone thing.
You can also compete in the Community Shield if you were the league runner up, and the league winner won the FA Cup, so you don't have to win a major tournament to win it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Jose and Roma - but I don't really buy this 360 degree turnaround that is going on, where people said it was worthless last August, but now think it's glorious.

Only the lads who’ve been smashing the models get to tell him to stop boasting about miss piggy...the virgins need to pipe down as they just look like idiots.

Analogy still doesn't work, as it isn't the "virgins" 'piping up' - it's not like anyone's slagging off the Conference League, simply pointing out it isn't much to be fussed about.

I'm sure you know what I mean...

Something that City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG can’t offer him.
The big one...The UEFA Europa Conference League.

It’s what kids dream of, growing up.

I think winning a European trophy would elevate our club more than not winning one.

You mean 180? After all if he did a 360 degree turnaround, it's just the same :)

I watched the game-you can understand why Utd got rid and many at Spurs dislike him. What a bore. There is no long longevity in the way he sets his teams up. It’s result based yes, entertaining no. It’s all about him and not the players. Conte for me couldn’t be more opposite.

Apparently not before you did, but that appears to be a double-standard.

You do oddly seem to take differences of opinions very personally, if rather childishly. I'd suggest it better to just accept that the vast majority of people on here (including yourself) declare it a joke competition, and it's very weird to suddenly laud it now that Jose's endorsed it.

Look at all this... Over a year after he left and he still generates this much toxicity.

Let's all just move on like it never happened. All aboard the Conte train.

Also, people here keep mentioning that his footballing style is shit and boring, but they always fail to remember that such style also helped propelling Son and Kane into forming one of the deadliest attacking partnerships in Europe, something which Conte has been exploiting quite a lot over the course of his tenure, and it's a great part of our recent success. But sure, carry on hating him and his style.
