According to Matt Law, Winks reluctant to go to Sampdoria.

It goes for all nationalities really but footballers should be more open to embracing other cultures. If he has a family then fine but you’d think a year or two in Italy or Spain would be awesome as a young footballer.

Can only imagine he has a preference for somewhere else (probably Leicester) and is sitting right waiting for that move to unfold.
No different to raphinha for example.

I miss the days of Stoke buying our unwanted players for sky high fees. Crouch, Palacios and later Wimmer. They would have given us £80m for a Wink, Ndom, Lo Celso bundle deal.

Sunderland as well in their purchase of Chimbonda, Tanio and Malbranque i think.
That Roy keane was a good manager. Stick to the punditry Roy.

Let’s not forget Harry Redknapp’s Pompey dustcart that used to come and collect from us in batches.

Definitely. I personally would jump at the chance! I also think Winks might be well suited to the Italian league, he would probably be afforded more time on the ball for example.

If he’s staying in the PL, it makes sense to leave this until as late in the window as possible.

Why?

He'll be limiting his opportunity to integrate with the team and system the longer he leaves it and as a passing CM that is really important.

I think a move to Spain would suit him better. He speaks the language, has family there and would be playing in a league which suits his playing style

He has....... Tottenham.

I'm actually past caring now, as long as he doesn't make any of the matchday squads I couldn't give a toss.

He seriously needs to manage his expectation.
He has a contract so he can do as he pleases I guess. When it has been made completely clear that he has no future at Spurs, I think it shows poor character that he doesn’t seem to accept it and embrace moving on for the benefit of his own career.

He's too comfortable at Spurs. He knows it's all downhill from here. He's probably content just picking up his wages and using the place like a holiday camp.

He's definitely deluded to his own level and ability. Like Trix says as long as I never have to see him on the bench or on the pitch, do what he wants it's his career.

It's two years left on his contract right? Hopefully the club won't even think about offering him a new one.

Really not surprising. When you take off the Spurs-coloured safety goggles (in reference to those who see something positive with him), I doubt anyone who has scouted him would think he would be a good fit for an EPL team. He has no outstanding attributes: he's not a strong fighter that could do well for a relegation scrap; he's not a great passer or creative player with limitations that a mid-table aspiring club could try to accommodate, and he's certainly not a midfield general suitable for a top six club. Historically, his sub appearances haven't been great, either, so he doesn't represent a great bench option.

And then there are the stories of him being disruptive. Would a smaller team want to upset their dressing room with that kind of character? Sadly, I just don't see a fit for him in this league. EFL would be more suitable for him, I think. Or perhaps somewhere like the MLS. But perhaps I'm wrong and Boehly, infused with buying fever, makes a surprise move.

Hard to understand how a former England international that is only 26 years old can't fint another PL club. Is he on massive wages or why don't anyone want him?

Also the fact that he seems to want to mainly hang around at Spurs, if you were another club would you want this type of character one that’s happy to sit at a club where he doesn’t even make the squad. He would hardly scream out to a prospective club ‘come and get me’ ‘I’m happy to play for you’.

Any club is going to be having question marks about a player like that, that’s already a bit limited in what he brings to the table.
