Well this is lovely

Makes sense.

From past experience he knows that he can't force a move and all he gained 2 years ago was a shit start to the season and the loss of a lot of goodwill from the fans who adored him.

Also would be such a shit move to go to Chelsea on many levels. Even if they offer him a massive deal, it's not like they're guaranteed trophy winners any time soon and he'd shit on his entire legacy going there.

It will all come down to if Bayern or anyone else offers enough that it makes financial sense to sell. What that number is only Levy knows.

However he must be open to it if he’s holding talks.

I've always thought he'd stay this summer, it makes zero sense at all for HIM, to leave now.
I'd also be happy if ENIC didn't make a single penny off him.

I'm not sure that running down your contract and the club getting nothing for you would constitute positive terms.
But if he doesn't want to stay and we don't accept any bids what else can he do? His only option is to keep quiet and fulfil his contract.

It's positive insofar that the club is aware of his intentions now so they can plan for it. Rather than him doing a judas and pissing us about for half a season about signing a new contract, then fucking off to our bitter rivals on a free.

That's fine as long as you're not in here next year complaining that we don't have the money to buy a replacement.

He's given us lots of opportunities to cash in, we've prefered more than a decade of service from a home grown player. Both Levy and fans given two options seem to demand both.

It's pretty clear he's not joining BM this summer. They won't offer enough, given he'll be free in 12 months' time and he doesn't seem desperate to go there so won't agitate. He also knows what he can command in a years' time.
It just ain't happening but Sky etc will keep the story bubbling because it's their job.

I think it is pretty clear that he will be leaving on a free next summer. We would have to get CL, win a trophy etc to have any chance of keeping him and even then I think he would still go.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Ange, as a person, and his attacking playing style might just win Harry over at the end of the day. Time will tell, but if we can get firing in the Postecoglou style I'd imagine that would be pretty attractive to a born goal scorer.

Probably also worth a mention that we haven't really won anything with him, and plenty of teams have won stuff without him.
That’s a self-reinforcing delusion or confirmation bias if you will.

The argument isn’t what silverware we haven’t won with him, it’s what he’s contributed and what dropoff he prevented. Without all his goals, assists and general play we wouldn’t have finished as high in the league as we did with him. Ergo European spots, CL money, etc etc. End of story. Sure we’d have had an extra person instead of him, but nowhere near his level.

I might be in the minority here but TBH if we don’t sell now and he ends up leaving for nothing next season, I’ll be gutted.

Liverpool fans felt the same when they sold Coutinho, but they spent well and became a better team as a result.

Think a new contract, with say a £60m release clause that activates for foreign clubs next summer, might be the best option for all parties.

Apart from for Harry himself. He's holding all the cards here so won't sign a contract with any clause limiting any potential transfer, even if £60m is a reasonable release number.
