Having breakfast with Bayern. Levy knows he is losing his position of power with Kane. No chance he would have entertained this 2 years ago when City wanted him. He’s preparing to sell if he has to.
Levy will only sell on his terms. I'm hoping that he met them just to set expectations. We will want premier league record numbers. 120m sterling I reckon.

I think a lot of players have hidden behind Harry Kane for quite a number of years at THFC. Whilst I don’t want him to go, it might not hurt us if others finally grow a pair and step up out of the shadow.

Yeah. Not just players either, coaches too. Even when we have been playing terribly, his regular supply of goals has papered over many cracks, at least in terms of putting points on the board.

Not sure I agree. I think if City had bid somewhere near what we thought was an acceptable price, he likely would have taken the meeting then, too. Doesn't mean it would've ended up with a sale, but there's a magic number of overpay for every player you would listen to.

Also makes sense not to burn bridges with one of the few foreign teams with any cash - we are running out of places we can sell people to outside the EPL as it is, without this going sour.

Whatever the situation is right now, I hope it is resolved imminently. The last thing we need is this hanging over Ange's preparation all preseason. The worst-case scenario would be for Kane to be sold last minute like Berbatov.

💯 This needs sorted before 1st game of the season, otherwise the whole season will be overshadowed. Every week Ange will be faced with new questions on it. Sign on or move on.

Part of me thinks that if there is a very appealing option out there, whether it's one player or multiple, that can at least on paper look like any bit compensating for the loss of Kane, then I wouldn't be against pursuing it. That's in no way because I don't want Kane but because I think he will be gone next year anyway, certain transfer opportunities are only possible for so long and we wouldn't lose him to another PL team.

Of course the question is what options for us there would be but who knows.

I've been in plenty of meetings where both parties knew that the chances of a deal were slim to none. It keeps Bayern happy that they think they are making progress, it keeps Harry happy because he knows Levy isn't just dismissing it completely. Levy can come back and say sorry Harry it just doesn't work for the club.

The consensus is that Bayern didn't propose any actual deal in this meeting, suggesting that they just wanted to get a feel for what we were thinking, or perhaps the initial terms Levy wants were so above what they were thinking that they decided not to bother.

If we were to sell it's clear that it'll be in our terms only.

Its ridiculous to ask who do we get to replace Kane with £120 (million Obviously), we cant, no one could. We take the money and we build a better *team*, I want him to stay, but if he goes we will live.

You'd not even get me for £120, and I'm a fat 42 year old!! lol

I don't reckon he will be sold this summer, nor will he sign a new contract. Bayern are just doing the legwork (under the guise of buying this summer) early for next year when they offer Kane a proper contract in January.

This is it for me. With the right signings we can absolutely come out stronger in the longer term.

Yes, there's lots of risk
Yes, it will be impossible to replace him like for like

But that doesn't mean we can't come out stronger.

For a start, is it so out of the question that Ange gets a tune out of the current Brazil #9? I wouldn't be overly despondent if he left, as long as we got a very good fee and had a clear sense of how we would redploy the cash, and a good sense that we would be able to get the players we were after

Lots of IFs, lots of risk - but also risk in doing nothing and him leaving for free after we go through a year of transition

Probably also worth a mention that we haven't really won anything with him, and plenty of teams have won stuff without him.

I think they would want to get this sorted now as they would be at the back of the line of clubs offering him a contract in January if his preference is to stay in the Prem.
