I’m trying to explain the premier league to someone not into football. Got into talking about how Man City, Chelsea (and to some extent Newcastle) are hated for ‘cheating’ when it comes to buying their success whereas clubs like Spurs (and Arsenal) are building success the right way.

Does anyone have any articles/tables they can share that highlight how some teams in the league go about things the right way and others not so much? It would be really useful to help explain the above to this bloke. Doesn’t need to be purely focused on money either, more just about going about things the right/wrong way as a club.

Any help appreciated.

Just the fact that sport should be 'sporting' and played by the rules of the game, with each side having a fair and equitable chance of success.

Chelsea, in particular, have done everything possible to bend, massage, and manipulate those rules in their favour over an extended period, and the success they have inevitably achieved is not earnt in the same way as it has been by almost every other club.......they have effectively cheated at Monopoly.

I think you’d struggle to find a premier league club without some kind of skeleton in the cupboard. Obviously there are the more egregious cheating clubs like Chelsea, City and now Newcastle, who are all worthy of strong criticism.

But Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, United will all have done things dodgy, from stiffing suppliers or contractors, to publicly backing racist wannabe cannibals.

I think we all know which two clubs think they are the classiest, with levels of arrogance and self-entitlement that even the mega-rich owners cannot match. Hence they feel justified putting out those statements about referees and VAR when things went against them in matches this season.

Step forward to claim the trophy both Victim FC and Social Media FC, you and your fans deserve each other 😀

Arsenal like to label themselves as classy but if you go way back to 1919, there was something very ‘unclassy’ about their promotion.
