He joins a long line of English players who’ve chased the Chelsea pound rather than doing what’s best for their career.

You’d think people would learn, but greed always gets the better of them.

Well, that's not entirely true. We pulled out of his deal in the nick of time due to his hamstring issues. Him wanting out of Everton was because of him wanting to play in the Champions League, so it was a no brainer when Chelsea offered him a deal the next season

It's funny as this whole chase for Sancho has almost fucked United's window up so far. I find it strage how they're so fixated on him and for such a price, when they really need additions for other positions.

I find it hilarious that Sky have listed the following as United's alternative targets, should they not get Sancho:

Ousmane Dembele
Luka Jovic
Edinson Cavani
Ismaila Sarr

Sancho is not a "striker" as such, yet they list two out and out target men as alternatives.
Proof that either:
a) Sky talk bollocks
b) United don't know what they're doing

Actually it's not an either is it, it's both.

I do wonder what Manures targets are - it is akin to Chelseas really.

Theyre focussing on the attack but they need pace at the back. Telles i think they will get and that may help with pace but they need someone beside Maguire.

Milan have acted quickly after being given a really tough game by Bodø/Glimt in the EL qualifier last week and promptly signed their best player. 20 year old Jens Petter Hauge is a winger who can operate on both sides, and a really exciting prospect who scored 14 goals and assisted 8 in 18 league games in Norway since the season started in June. He also both scored and assisted at San Siro but Milan held on to win 3-2. It's a huge step up but the wings are definitely Milan's weakest point going into the season so he might get some game time.

Well it's a calculated gamble as you never know how quickly a player adapts to such a huge step up in quality but every sign so far and particularly the game at San Siro suggests he has what it takes.

That's quite the dream story right there. Banged a great goal against and gets picked up the next week.

You talk as if he’d have been earning minimum wage had he not gone to Chelsea. Barkley likely already had enough money to support several generations of family from his time at Everton, going to Chelsea didn’t change that.

Okay, so he's at Everton earning quite a decent amount money. Then Chelsea come in, a team that can not only offer him even more money for doing the same thing he did at Everton but can offer better facilities, world class/quality players and a genuine opportunity to win trophies ( Barkley has now won the EL and FA Cup with Chelsea) and he should not take the deal because that would be greedy? Everyone has different motivations and things change as players get older, injuries happen, players start having families etc I just don't get why he's being labelled as greedy when majority of us in our own fields would most likely take the "Chelsea" deal if offered.

??‍♂️ Personally I think players are silly to risk promising careers by ending up on a very expensive bench. I understand the motivation behind it, I just think it’s the wrong decision career wise. There’s literally dozens of examples of players who’ve had their careers stymied by going to the wrong often bigger club. Barkley actually did better than a lot of others who went to Chelsea though. It’s not too late for him though, Parker did really well for himself after wasting a few years at Chelsea, as did De Bruyne (can’t see him quite reaching those heights though.) Others haven’t been so lucky, Drinkwater for example probably wishes he’d stayed at Leicester.

Sky Sports: Everton have agreed a fee with Norwich for Ben Godfrey. The deal includes an initial fee of £25m and could rise to close to £30m.

Especially with the reveal that Rodríguez was free. (Other than waves of course)

There's something off about that. Why would Real give him away? Why would no one else (e.g. West Ham or Arsenal) be interested if he was?

Get his wages off the books plus his injury record hasn't been great?

I feel Madrid are getting ready for next summer by reducing the wage bill ready for Mbappe perhaps?

You could say the same about a lot of their players, but nobody's telling me that he's not worth £10m at least
