This suggests he hasn't been professional previously.

Also 1.5m loan fee from PSG is taking the piss, why are they being so frugal this season?
No it doesn’t suggest he hasn’t been professional previously, it just states that he has been professional since not being selected, which means not behaving like a dick and knuckling down to work hard in training.

he’ll know exactly that, as he’ll have been doing this since he was 8/9 years old, working hard to impress a coach to get selected, it’s good that he isn’t acting like a primadonna (sp) and also shows that maybe there isn’t that much of a selfish ego there after all

Which player do you think would be dropped if Dele gets the merits to return to starting 11?

I know that currently we do not have a starting 11 settled and that we do rotations but with a starting 11 I mean the team that Mourinho would play with in a hypothetical Europa League final.

I think the players that Mou will have the most confidence in are:

Lloris

Doherty Dier Toby Reguilon

Winks PEH Lo Celso

Bale Kane Son

Personally I would have Dele over Winks every time

I don't know why but that had more the feel of a goodbye cameo than a redemption. I thought he played well but the way he grabbed the ball for the pen felt more like he wanted to sign off with a goal than prove a point or I could just be imagining it there was just something about the way he was greeted by the other players as if they knew something.

Had the same feeling.
He also reminded me of my son when he is showing me what he can do. Look at me, dad!
Hopefully Mou will give him a hug , trust and more playing time.

I have to be honest, I'm still not bothered as to whether he plays or not as his football has frustrated me for what feels like quite a while now but yesterday actually showed glimpses of what could be a better player, a better player we would not see had he continued to not be challenged to improve. There was still a few times when he held onto the ball a bit too long to not to a lot with it in the end, but there were also times where he showed a bit of urgency in his play and passed quickly, keeping things moving and not slowing down the play, like for Kane's third.

Basically if he can increase the urgency in his play I think there's a much better player to what we've been seeing in there and one that I'd have a lot less frustration with. He'd become so content in receiving the ball and thinking he had a lifetime to decide what to do with it. It's almost as if he has to either see things quicker upon receiving the ball or know more of what to do with the ball prior to receiving it. I appreciate that when he receieves the ball he does try to look up and assess what forward passes are on, but he often takes so long to do so and ultimately ends up just playing a simple pass that could have been made in half the time and a result slowing everything down.

Honestly what's with this site and body language interpretation.

I don't get why people say he doesn't fit into Jose's system when we still play 4231 with 1 central attacking midfielder. I guess people are assuming we're going to go 433 but I've seen not seen any evidence of that. Surely if we were going to change to 433 we would play it already rather than wait for new signings and take longer to adjust to it. We would still play the system with or without those new signings playing anwyay. For me Lo Celso can play the role Winks does, Hojbjerg replaces Sissoko with much better positional play. Alli and Ndombele will often be used as the more advanced central midfielder.

Lo Celso/Winks----Hojbjerg/Sissoko/Gedson
Bale/Moura----Alli/Ndombele/Lamela----Son/Bergwijn
Kane----Vinicius

I think the issue is that whether it’s 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, because we are generally setting up a fair bit deeper than we used to, the central attacker is far less a 10 and far more a midfielder, albeit the most advanced of the three. Dele (so far in his career, for those who think he can adapt) has been very, very effective for us when he’s loitering around the opposition box, but unfortunately he’s also been wildly ineffective for us at times when we’ve asked him to play from deeper. I actually think he’s ok with the defensive contribution, he just has zero pace on the ball when you want him to drive forward with it and is so often caught dawdling on the ball before he can release a pass. It’s like everything about him is geared to just doing one piece of skill to beat a man, or one little dinked pass, or a one touch finish. And he’s fucking amazing as it if you can build a system around him, but as a midfield player you have to be able to carry the ball, or be fucking incredible in your distribution. Frustrating to watch, but maybe it can be coached over the long term. I’m not so sure personally.

I think he could still be effective from the left, especially now that we have Reguillon adding pace and width, he could play the tucked in role that he used to for Poch and cause teams problems, but it’ll be tough to displace Son or Bale obviously.

Ah some people can't see a rose in a concrete jungle.

Thought Dele was fine - individual piece of brilliance moved the ball quickly had a sloppy moment when he lost possession transitioned well as with others ie Davies when Reguillon came on when Jose changed system scored a goal.

Yep, he’s had little football this season so far. So to come on for 45 minutes and put in that performance was fine.

there are some players that can play at their own pace unfortunately Dele’s not one of them. I personally would be happy to let him go.

Although Ndombele has increased his work rate he will never have the level of energy and tenacity of Lo Celso. I would say the same for Alli. I think that's why they have been tested by Jose because he wants hard work on and off the pitch. I would rather have a player with the industry of Lo Celso in that number 8 position. I also love his runs forward from there. Ndombele is better at killer balls so would be better suited further forward for me. Same for Alli, he'll never offer enough off the ball to play that deeper role.

Don't be surprised if Ndombele starts winning the ball back more than Lo Celso. I noticed already his pretty good at interceptions.
The deeper role can be played imo by Lo Celso and Ndombele similarly to how Modric operated.

Imo we could have a midfield of
Lo Celso Ndombele Dele.
