Or. Or we could play the left back who has played the majority of games for us in that position over the last three years.

Sorry for being crazy.

Yep why do people leave out our little korean dynamo, makes the mind boggle dunnit.

Wow. Good Lee hating.

Probably our most consistent player over the last 2 and a half years. Jeez.

I bet none of you have seen Gilberto play. Aside from that YouTube video of him against Japan. GrassIsGreenerCommunity.

 I agree with 100%. Lee has been consistent and have basically saved our hides on occasions prior to this new regime. In my view he is a better LB than Bale is, who is our best LM. Two of them on the left ie LB and LM, no problem.

You wonder about the grey matter of some of the supporters at times :duh: As they say, be careful what you wish for......... .

Shame for the lad, hope he comes back stronger and fitter for next season, looking forward to seeing him down the left wing.

Lee is a below par premiership player who consistently gets targeted as our weaker full-back and he constantly lets the left winger cut in. At the weekends game chimbs showed us where you should keep a right winger as close to the byline as possible and with hardly any room to cross although he right footed. While lee pushes them onto the inside so he can make the challenge a lot of the time if you do this with a high decent winger they will be cutting into our area any day of the week.

I am gutted. Whenever he's played for us he's been impressive.

He was Brazilian..

But Kleberson was in the reserves and Gilberto is a first-team starter for Brazil.

Defensively Lee is far superior to Bale anyway at this moment in time. It's a massive shame ofcourse, but i think it would be harsh on Steed for him to lose his spot right now and that is where Bale really exhales in these early stages of his career, the left of midfield. Thank god old Steed is on fire because i thought we were really going to miss Bale.

gutting news about Bale. I confess I didn't believe the rumour about out all season.

I think Lee is a solid left back and I rate him but he has his limitations going forward and I think Ramos cares about that quite a bit. So sadly the writing's on the wall as someone posted earlier.

Anyway, back to the topic. Really feel bad for Bale. It was going so well for him.

A bit of a shame, then, that Chimbs hasn't consistently shown us where to keep a left winger. Mind you, he did a great job on Benayoun at Anfield.

Oh no, sorry, that was in an alternative universe. The one where we're running away with the league.

Barring King, Lee has made fewer major errors than any of our defenders over the past two-and-a-bit seasons.

Back to topic, it's a huge shame for Bale but he'll bounce back. But let's not kid ourselves that he's a Premiership LB at the moment, because he isn't. The main thing is that Gilberto gives us two different LB/LM combinations with Lee and Steed, and if you chuck O'Hara and Chimbo in that's a further few mixes.

Every one's a winner.

Defensively Bale is a premiership standard LB, not the best or anywhere near best but not the worst or anywhere near the worst.

Offensively Bale is the best premiership LB, in fact only Clichy comes close.

Against anybody other than the big 4 when we are likely to have the majority of the possesion I would play Bale at LB everytime to have such an explosive attacking weapon from that position is a god send.

Who would you sooner played LB for us against Utd with Ronanldo in the side, Bale or Lee?

I would take Bale over Lee against Ronaldo everytime. At least Gareth matches up to him physically and can compete in a foot race. Last year at the lane when Utd beat us 4-0 Ronaldo completely slaughtered Lee who couldn't compete with him at any level. Ronaldo was too quick and to strong for Lee and exposed it in a horribly 1 sided argument, at least Bale could compete with Ronaldo in those departments.

Gareth is a big miss for us and personally I believe he would be a permanent fixture at LB under Ramos and have noubt that he will occupy that position next season.

A back 4 with central defenders like Woodgate/King with 2 physical specimens like Hutton & Bale as full backs is very imposing.

I'm sorry, I could see Bale getting schooled all over the shop by Ronaldo, I've seen him make glaring positional errors when trying to recover his position, both for us and for Wales.

That said, a good pre-season with Ramos, Hutton & Gilberto could sort him out.

BALE, BALE, BALE! - He needs a better chant than that when he's back.

And please people stop slagging off little Lee, he's having to turn the other cheek so much he's getting dizzy.
