I agree, Drop Dier back in my opinion and have Foyth continue to develop that should keep him happy. Grealish is deeper from all the games I watched of Villa trying to check Onomah out, he would very much suit 4-3-3 sitting alongside Eriksen and would compete with Winks. We need a another player for CM but in all honesty we could fit both Zaha and Martial in depending on how you perceive strength in depth and who they'd be competing with for a position. I know that ruffles a few people because their favourites would be on the bench but the strength in depth would be huge.

I agree. If we're playing 4 3 3 we'll have the midfield as follows

DM - Dier, Victor
CM/No 8 two positions: Winks, Eriksen, Dele, Lamela
Wings - Zaha, Martial, Son, Moura

However I can't see us spending that much money on two players, but we'd have enough cover for 2 for each. This doesn't even include Sissoko or GKN.

Yeah and we would then have 3 players (Zaha, Martial, Son) who could cover Kane not including Llorente. Shame we dont have the money for both but the formation shift would fix the cm problem and then we would only need to worry about the dm spot really.

"Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born - beautiful baby, full of health, thank God - he should be here and he is not here.

A tad harsh?!

Considering the fact Wanyama is struggling with injuries and we don't have much depth in terms of defensive midfielders, Dier will almost exclusively be required as a DM this season.

Foyth is nowhere near ready to be third choice CB, we need a signing if Toby leaves or we are weakening our squad even more.

Davies can play LCB although I'm not a huge fan. The thing is, to bring in an understudy who would do a better job than Davies or Foyth would cost a massive amount and I maintain that if Foyth was playing at Ajax people would be going nuts over him like they are with deLigt.
We have to stop with this idea that we can't afford good players. We played at Wembley last season. We have projected earnings of £400m next year. Even if wages hit the £200m barrier, that's still £1-200m that needs accounting for. And if we qualify for CL again, that could be another £50m on top of the CL earnings we already have. I'm *sure* Levy knows what he's doing, but we can afford to buy players. Whether we will or not is upto Levy.

I think it's more likely that we're looking at one of Martial/Zaha. Then probably another #8 type player and we would have 4 options for both position with Lamela being able to play on the wing as well.

I'm sorry mate but Lamela isn't very good. He's not a bad player but in a squad of 25 I rank him around 20th. Great to have in a squad but if you're pinning your hopes on him being a player that's going to tip the scales in our favour you'll be bitterly disappointed come 9 months time

Yeah if we signed Zaha or Martial he'd be 4th choice for the wide positions but he's a pretty good squad player to have imo. He'd be the best player in midtable/lower table premier league teams.

Would anyone be against giving them £35-£40m + Toby, seeing as Alderweireld only cost us £11.5m and is offski next summer for £25m. This won't slaughter the club, it just means biting the bullet on any kind of profit made on the slick haired Belgian

We have an inflated valuation of £75m on Toby, Utd have an inflated valuation or similar for Martial. That price sounds too high, I'd probably say up to £20m tops to try and push it through.

Another option I hope we've looked at is trying to a Keita type deal for De Ligt for say £40-45m (offsetting the one year extra they get out of him for a lower fee) and keeping toby for a year. Let him go for £25m it's still a large chunk of the De Ligt fee recouped.

Go all in for Martial and Thiago, who would need defenders with that midfield and strikers?

A straight swap seems fair!
