I seriously hope we’re firm on Toby and say to United the only circumstance under which he moves is if we get Martial and keep to that. We can’t be bullied.

Richarlison went for 35, I wish people would quit quoting that number.

With ad ons then. If we reached agreement with United for Martial meaning we got him for £60m rising to £90m with ad ons that would be billed as a £90m signing wouldn’t it?

No, it wouldn't. It would be a 60m potentially rising to 90.

I think we should pay it, or close to it. Just get him in. His potential upside is enormous. He has the ability to easily become our best attacker after Kane if he clicks.
This is ridiculous. For 90M you want guaranteed performance not f****** potential...unless that potential is to grow beyond the 90M value. FFS we are talking real money here not Mendes, China, Chelsea money.
For whatever Martial has shown to increase his value he has shown equally concerning qualities to limit his value in his time in the PL. I wouldn't pay a cent over a Toby swap and based on actual performance I would be expecting them to give us money.

Once again everyone obssesed with figures! Honestly I never hear other fans discuss a potential transfer and say “no that’s too much let’s not buy him”.

Ffs give it a rest... is their deal to be done between Toby and Martial? YES.

Will it cost Spurs £30,40,50m on top. Yes maybe, but who cares let’s get the man in... the money is not coming out of your pocket. Some of you don’t even donate £5 towards this site yet have sleepless nights over the cost of a transfer.

Sad!

Toby + 30m is overpaying, but he's poch's top target (or one of them) so I bloody hope we pay it

I think the discussions are how it effects the rest of a limited budget. Just as Grealish was going to. Everyone wants a CM, are we going to have to go cheap on a CM and Toby replacement if we blow that on top of Toby for Martial. I'm not certain thats the smart thing to do.

I don't see what the problem is if Levy gives it the go ahead finance wise and it doesn't impact on our needs elsewhere.
With the stipulations you set forth I don't see a problem either...other than it is not addressing the position of greatest need which you talked about in another thread...and also, I have doubts about Martial's overall game but would happily be proven wrong.

And specifically my post was about valuation. Irrespective of what ManU want in the machinations of a Toby/Martial swap he is not a 90M player. I was harping on about the valuation only.

Is Kane a £2-300m player?

I think a swap with Toby and Martial will happen in the last couple of days of the window. There's too little going on with Man U, Chelsea, us etc for there to not be some kind of activity happen soon surely

Yeah but there's also a possibility of a Willian-Martial swap between Man U and Chelsea that leaves only us in a negative position. I guess that wouldn't be great for Man Utd either though because they lose a top talent and get an average winger in return.

Willian has just come out and said he is going back to Chelsea, loves them and England. Would he surprised if he moves now.

I'm still so undecided on who would better suit us, Martial or Zaha. I think for his trickery I'd lean towards Zaha. He seems a real handful these days
