Mourinho on links with Trabzonspor striker Alexander Sørloth after the Turkish club confirmed they have held talks. Mourinho added: “I’m not going to discuss the player because he belongs to Trabzonspor but if the president says that then I am not going to say it is not true.”

Like every other link at the moment I’ve not seen him play. Great numbers, better league than Scotland, about the same as Austria, worse than Portugal.

Finally a striker we´re linked to that I know.

To judge Alex Sørloth as a player after his spell at a deeply dysfunctional Palace where Benteke(!) was the expensive "superstar" and where a young kid that came for peanuts from the Danish league to challenge was never given a proper chance ... well, it´s simply ignorant and bordering on outright arrogant.

This is why I mostly read and not comment in the threads for players like Daka, Vinicius, Diallo, etc.: I don´t know much about them, have hardly seen them play. And I don´t know the leagues intimately (anymore - I used to follow most leagues across Europe rigorously). So this thread is an extreme eye opener to me on how little the average SC user actually knows about football outside Spurs and the PL. Because these comments in here are obviously made by people who knows bugger all. And that makes me think that this would then also be the case in the other threads as well.

Compared to the quality of leagues, the stats over time, I would say that Sørloth is on the same level as Daka, Diallo and Vinicius. Maybe over, maybe under - but comparable and to some extent similar, or in that area. The thing that really is "strange", is that all these strikers and forwards are so totally different in what they bring! Some rely only on speed, some are more link up players, others again a fox in the box. As several have commented: is there really a plan? Other than bring in a body?

So everyone on here is clueless and Sorloth who scored:

C Palace - zero goals
Gent - 4 in 19
Trabzonspor - 24 in circa 30 games

Is on par if not better than the other strikers we’ve been linked with?

He’s had one good season in a piss poor league and done the square root of fuck all before that. In no way shape or form does that equate to him being a good fit for us. Albeit a shambles at the moment we’ve top 4 aspirations and Sorloth is not that player.

Haven’t seen him play much but looks strong and powerful.

It’s pretty funny that most the strikers we’ve been linked to, with the exception of Edouard/Milik, are ones who have had exactly one outstanding season in their careers, normally in weaker leagues - Daka/Vinícius/Watkins/Sørloth/Diallo, even Ings arguably.

I know very little about him but either we’re making noises about all sorts of strikers to put some pressure on our main targets club or, we literally have no clue what we’re doing and have no cohesive plan. I wonder which is more likely!

I think latter is more realistic in terms of spurs
