IMO It doesn't really matter what their roles were, it's the stick used, exactly like Dembele, Traore's actual influence on games can be far more than assists and goals, it's his effect on our play, his effect on the opposition and how they set up. This is why manager after manager have rated him. But the 'end product' thing is the main objection people have and those stats illustrate the inconsistency.

I say give him a go, other teams will worry about him and with the quality in the side around him which I think fair to say is superior to what he's used to, I wouldn't mind betting his stats improve.

But i'm sure plenty will disagree :D
I think you make a good point but can see why the comparison has people confused. They play completely different roles, and players in the Dembele role rarely get many goals and assists. Xavi and Modric didn’t get that many either, to name two of the best players of this century. Their job was to transition from defence to attack, play through the press, and control the game.
Dembele was not as consistent or injury free as those guys of course but on his day he was magnificent.

Wingers are expected to contribute goals and assists, but you are right that Traore is one of those players you can’t judge on stats alone. He has the ability to move a team 50 yards up the pitch consistently. For a team like us, who struggle to control midfield, that could be really valuable

If you have a front row seat to scout a player and that player was Traore yesterday...there's no way after that game you are saying, no I dont want him.

If you're basing signing players off games against Spurs, we'd currently be lining up with Ravel Morrison, David McGoldrick and Jeffrey Schlupp in the 11

Very surprised to read either Adama or a striker.
Don't think it's really surprising to be honest. One of those options signs and it's 7 senior players on 3 positions which is ok depth, with Son or even Lucas and Bergwijn being able to play as a striker. And if something bad happens back-up options for back-up as Sess, Scarlett or Lo Celso are ok.

The truth is Kane will play most of PL matches no matter what, and Son is better as a striker than most of potential options

Always felt Traore would look at home in a Spurs kit. .. anytime over the last few seasons whenever he starts, or comes off the bench, I’ve always murmured ‘shit’ under my breath. He has the aptitude to change games and create mayhem for the opposition - proven yet again yesterday.

Another thing about Traore from yesterday - he was not just doing it from RW. Infact he was brilliant in LW. So again proved he can play anywhere in the park.

he's an exciting option for sure but can't score for shit. our issue has always been sharing the goals away from just sonny and kane and that issue wouldn't change by having him here imo. i'd rather spend the 40m on a player who is less exciting but knows where the goal is and can chip in with 10+ goals a season.

What your saying is not the full picture of having him in your team. What about goals scored or attempted by the panic and carnage he creates Unfortunately there is not a heading for goals scored because of carnage elsewhere.
Whilst I am against signing him, as I do not believe he is an upgrade on what we currently have. I do now strongly want "Goals scored because of carnage elsewhere" added to all stat sites! Although, this might encourage players to start bottling each other or only telling half a joke and then running away before delivering the punchline!

Well true
But serious answer - none of those 3 were managed by our manager already...
In Nuno's case, Traore was a player who he developed for 3 years. Thats a huge difference in decision making

again people keep saying the same things, Kane wont be playing if he gets an injury, if Son or Kane get injured, then of our players for those forward positions how many can consistently provide goals? we will be reliant on one player who can be easily isolated and we will be relying on grinding results out like yesterday.

I think Traore will be an exciting player to watch play for our club but I have real concerns if we don’t try and sign somebody who can provide that 3rd goal threat like Bale did last season. People will say oh he battered shit teams but players who can put the ball in the net in those games are absolutely vital because a teams ability to put those teams away has a huge impact on where they finish in the league. Doesn’t matter if Son is better than them we need that person.

Did anyone a teapot watch the game yesterday. He absolutely terrorised us - and I felt like his passing and distribution was actually very good.

I read all the chat on here and then watched the full game on match choice expecting to see some Sissoko-style passing - but outside of a missed 1 on 1 and an imbalanced shot over the bar then I struggled to find out what the fuck everyone was talking about.

I saw some really neat lay offs, cut backs and crosses Into dangerous areas. Surely someone can tell him to slow down before he shoots?

he’s a weapon, gets you way up the pitch - corners, high throw ins, and as a few have said playing with clinical players on the same wavelength then Jesus it could be our best signing.

add the fact we play counter system - then I really don’t see the risk
