We’d be better off keeping him and fighting for the Champions League. Or we will be in the same situation come next window — with a lot more unhappy superstars [and Mourinho].I'm confident Levy would only let him go out on loan if there was an obligation to buy for the exact reasons you've stated. While this means we wouldn't get much cash for him up front, it might be the best way to get his wages off our books and get rid of his presence around the club.
I'd certain prefer we loaned him to Inter with an obligation rather than having him fester on the bench for another season.
Ndombele on loan would be immensely poor decision from the club — especially if we’re selling him at loss. With no financial outlay from the buying club this window we won’t be buying a replacement for him this window. We’d be better off keeping him.
He’d be Dele’s backup, so there wouldn’t be as much pressure for him to be firing right away and he could be coached / trained back into the side.
In an ideal world I completely agree. But based on last season and everything that's since come out about Ndombele's attitude and effort can you honestly see a heroic redemption story at this stage? Maybe under a different manager, but I find that very hard to imagine him ever becoming a first team regular under Mourinho. He's not an "arm round the shoulder" manager and frankly even a fit and fighting Ndombele might not be the type of player Jose would want in his system anyway. We’d be better off keeping him and fighting for the Champions League. Or we will be in the same situation come next window — with a lot of unhappy superstars.
We should be treating a push back into the Champions League like Leeds views staying up in the Premier League. We simply need it.
Easy to say now, but it was our attempt at being ambitious for a change. I don't blame the board because his potential is unquestionable, sadly his committment isn't quite at the same level.
What I don't understand is how all this TN ITK is coming out each day whilst he has COVID and hasn't been with the squad since July? Surely Mourinho and co. would have challenged him to get in better shape and return to the squad to fight for his place in the team. All just seems a bit outlandish logically IMO since they haven't even seen him this preseason.
