And most of this because as @JUSTINSIGNAL said he is good at set pieces. From 13 goals only 2 are from open play. From 10 assists only one against West Ham is from open play.

Not sure what's the source for MOTM performances but yeah I guess he got one for example against Aston Villa because again, he scored 2 free kicks in one match.

Stats per 90 are much more accurate than per game and this really isn't difference when you also consider Spurs had higher % of possession

Or even worse. People complain how Winks doesn't offer anything offensively but there really isn't difference

Put Winks in the Southampton team an JWP in the Spurs team and the stats would be much further apart. JWP is breaking into the England set up where Winks is no longer anywhere near it. Winks is nowhere near JWP

Winks was part of England team until 2021 when he stopped regularly playing for Spurs and from what I have seen was good there. This really isn't good argument.

And Hojbjerg last season or Romeu this season from quick look had better stats than JWP.

Personally, would love JWP. Always been impressed by him. Excellent ball delivery and work rate. And if it was to replace Winks… *chef’s kiss*

Not what we need in my opinion, not much of an upgrade on winks, he stands out in a bad Southampton side.

Not for me. Soton want more than 30m. Think we can get much more value elsewhere for that fee.

Nice show of loyalty there from Winks.... The other Harry could learn a thing or to from him.... ?

There’s a difference between “loyalty” and refusing to leave the club because you’re on a cushy little number and you know that you’ll struggle to get the same remuneration elsewhere.

I agree we should be going after other players, but don't tell me he's not an upgrade on Winks.

Winks could only dream of doing half of these things

Would be a definitive upgrade on Winks and a good addition to the squad without a doubt, but surely the Don can find someone as good or better abroad for money that Southampton will quote for him.

Must be in the minority, because I like Ward-Prowse and thought he was unlucky to miss out on the Euros.

He's not a bad player but then, he's not particularly a good player either.
So it a "meh" from me.
