Wasn't there a report that Southampton wont deal with us after the PEH deal? I'm not sure on the details but apparently they didn't like our approach. I can't see them selling us JWH but I can see us selling Winks to them instead.

According to some in here, they're the same player so they don't need two of them. We'll just take their one of them off their hands.

Just looking at Saints Web or whatever there forum is called and there chief executive has apparently come out in last 24/48 hours saying Ward Prowse isn’t for sale. However some talk on there that a bid north of £40 million might change that stance and get them around the table to start negotiating. Personally not sure he is worth that kind of money. But can well believe that figure given he has 4 years left on his deal.

Isn't JWP their captain? I remember the meltdown at Southampton when Hojbjerg (previously their captain) wanted to move, and the fans were consoling themselves that their "real captain" JWP was the important player for them in CM, not Hojbjerg. Must be a tough club to support to see your best players constantly stripped away, from captains like PEH and JWP, but also their star striker to a mid-table rival not in Europe.

No but I'm joking, JWP is a better player than Winks from what I've seen. He's their captain and whenever I saw Southampton last season he was one of the best players on the pitch whilst Winks if often our worst. He's much more all action/dynamic than Winks is too.

That said, I'd like to see us aim higher.

8 goals and 7 assists in the league last season. 5 goals and 3 assists the previous season.

Winks had a massive 0 goals and assists in the league the last two seasons (obviously he didn't play much last season)

JWP has 3 motm performances in that time. Winks 0.

He's made more tackles, clearances and interceptions per game than winks over the last two seasons, and has played more key passes than winks.

Even a small upgrade in all these metrics in our midfield makes a huge difference to our team, especially if we can't rely on Tanguy, and if Lo Celso is injured for any point of time.
