You wrote the following,At what point during that entire post did I say I excuse City's owners?
I went out of my way to say I in no way excuse them.
I was just making the point on how the club was run.
The people who run the club are doing it on illgotten gains.
I suppose that we should have Brian Kidd prosecuted for acts against humanity should we?
Be serious.
which in my books is excusing them. If you didn't mean it as an excuse then I apologise for the interpretation, but those things are exactly what Abu Dhabi want you to focus on, they are the distractions to keep us occupied away from the truth about them and their wealth. But from what I understand City's owners have invested heavily in the local community and have done a fair bit to help the underprivileged in the area. They have also been relatively pragmatic in building their squad.
Look at the (sort of) comeuppance Abramovich has received, not being allowed into the country, having trouble with getting permissions to build a stadium, and so on. Had he invested more into the club and the area instead of just the squad of players, and tried harder to portray himself as a "good guy", would the same still have happened? Possibly not.
And I in no way would have Brian Kidd or any other staffer prosecuted for anything Abu Dhabi does. They take their salary, which can be morally questioned but there was a football club there before Abu Dhabi and there will be one after they sell too.
Anyway, this isn't the right thread to go into deep debate (this is), so I think I'll leave the Grammar thread alone now.
