My first thread, and I hope it's OK starting a new one as I posted something similar in the u21 thread.

After our deflating result last weekend, followed by the long international break I didn't expect much positivity football wise, however, for me personally, the break has allowed me to be jubilant once again. Yesterday, Harry Kane scored his first goal for England u21s and made it a hattrick to boot while Tom Carroll assisted his last goal and took the corner that lead to Michael Keane's goal.

And now today Andros Townsend has helped England get that little bit closer to the World Cup with a MoTM performance and a brilliant goal. I honestly cant remember the last time I cheered an England goal so loudly. I also thought Walker played well today and even though I rated Charlie above him in his first season, and questioned him last season I think he has come on quite a bit now and I am happy for him.

I think it's a testament to all the staff at Spurs who have helped produce and develop the current batch of youngsters (inc. Caulker and Rose) who all have the potential to play for and help England maybe win something in the future.

I think on a day like this it is an opportunity to celebrate the work our club has done since we restructured the academy circa. 2004. It shows how the loan system can work and that we should start giving them a chance should they earn it a la Rose and Townsend. They will take time to develop and they are by no means the complete package but in a time where English players in the BPL are a rarity at least we can say that we have some who a vital to our team and have been developed in house. Hopefully there will be many more caps and goals for our players to come.

The future is bright the future is Lilywhite. COYS
