I would love to see a comparative profit/loss figure, or even better a table based of profit/loss. It wouldn't surprise me if we moved up a couple of places on that basis.
Whislt our turnover is very healthy our profits have been even more impressive.

The sooner people start understnding the significance (I know most of you do) of financial performance in relation to player acquisition and general enhancement of all things "spurs" the better.

As someone else pointed out, we are the only team in that list never to have kicked a CL football. Yet we probably outspent all bar a couple of them this summer and winter.

If they gave out trophies for fiscal performance we'd probably have won the Cl of finance the last three years.

Well played Mr Levy.

PS.
We must be the most attractive proposition out there at the moment. We wouldn't cost the same as Arsenal, London based, great tradition, fantastic fan base, top ten profits in world football, top 11 on turnover, great management structure and personnel, great squad.

Revenue is one thing but take away debts and it is a different story.

from a Sept 2007 Times article..

"According to the club, Ashburton Grove delivers £20m a season in extra revenue, but it comes with a £260m mortgage that costs £18m a year in interest payments. Although the board insists the debts do not curtail spending on the team and that the club has large amounts of cash at hand, their last accounts reported that close to two-thirds of their £53m bank balance was unusable under the terms of their loans. Over the past three summers the squad has shed high earners Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, and lost Edu and Ashley Cole to wage disputes, the latter for the sake of saving £260,000 per annum".

I would rather have £5million and Gallas for Cashley.

one thing I always say (cos i'm that kinda guy :) whenever this list comes out is that income is not the same as 'rich'

for years for example CFC were clearly the rich club tho not no. 1 on the list

And if it were, QPR would now be on it...

mmm where's that massive club Rangers - you know that one that little ole Tottenham bought Big Al from

Well that really isn't big surprise, I'm more surprised that Celtic made that list, but though they're spending their time on CL, so that's nothing.

I've never understood why people criticise Levy, he's taken us from massive underachievement to European football and a shot at the Champions League. Turnover has rocketed and we're finally thinking about our stadium. Compared to Sugar, he's done an amazing job.

To be fair, Sugar stabilised the club and prevented us from going bankrupt after Irving Scholar's attempts... The fact that he couldn't appoint a decent manager to save his life didn't do him many favours though...

I do believe we would have been in real deep shit if it were not for Sugar putting his foot down!

Some could argue we are seriously underachieving on that list, I'd like to know what citehs, blackburn, everton and villas turnover is in comparison, I've a feeling it doesn't make pretty reading for us or newcastle for that matter.

:) Defsta - you realise of course I was simply having a dig at all the why's Hutton going to small club spurs 'Gers' - childish I know - but you have to get through the day :)

the reasons he came to us are various - but basically we've got more money and looking at their line up got a better team too - I mean I rate lee mcCulloch - but he aain't no Berbs or Keane is he?

good point - but to be fair over the past 3 years I'd say we've outperformed everyone of those clubs

this season is very much in the balnce of course but win the CC and it's gonna be game set and decade over all of them in my humble predictive opinion

also it's not just about points and trophies - every club's fans are biased - but I honestly think we play and have played better football than all of those clubs over the past 3 years - i mean Everton are doing well this season - but when they had their shot at glory in their first semi-final for what 12 years - they were so barren in the deciding leg - had Spurs folded and under performed like that v AFC you'd never hear the end of it
