35+15 nowhere near enough. barca had that turned down already. really barca think that madrid are going to sign ribery today.

barca are still trying with robinho 1 bid turned down. and are going to make arsenil a take it or leave bid for fabregas(40 mil euros)

I don't think any of the names mentioned would be an under study to Modric but Thudd must be worried because I can see him making way for either VDV or Nicko!

Hudd also didn't endear himself when he was asked in an interview are you happy and he replied "yes because he's playing". That might be the case but I personally thought he could have phrased it better. Probably being a bit pedantic:oops:

Isn't Kranjcar the CM you want? I mean he is a CM predominently and today he had a few decent interceptions, runs like crazy and can both score and create. Takes free kicks better than Hudd, so we might get a screamer once a month.

Kranjcar was a CM or ACM earlier in his career, but Redknapp stuck him at LM for Pompey and that's where he plays now for club and country.

For Croatia, Luka plays CM and Kranjcar plays LM in a 4-4-2.

That''s exactly what I'd expect to happen at Spurs if we buy Niko, once Luka gets fit.

However, I'd prefer VDV if we can get him.

At the moment I think anything is possible.

The top top players will look at our start this season and think that we can actually do something.

Would love van der Vaart at WHL. An attacking CM with a good goalscoring record and a leader on the pitch (captain at Ajax and Hamburg). He would be an ideal partner for Wilson but he does not solve the problem of what happens when Wilson is unavailable. A midfield of vdv/Hudd or vdv/JJ would struggle against physical teams. We need a strong DM to cover Wilson (Sandro?, Parker?, Sissoko?, Muamba?).

Luka is better defensively than VDV. If both were fit, I suspect that Modric would probably play centrally with Wilson, with VDV on the left with a licence to drift inside when we're attacking.

Precisely the same would probably happen if we signed Kranjcar, as Modric is a better passer than Niko and better defensively, and so he would be the player to move into the middle.

Agree with that but one thing VDV will most certainly bring to our team is regular goals from midfield. Every top team has that but it's the one area that is lacking for us....

How about Flamini from AC Milan. He could most certainly to a job for us and unlike Vieira he is yet to reach his peak. A MF of Wilson and Flamini would strike the fear of god in to most teams.....

Flamini is currently in the Milan side, so I don't see why he would move.

I assume the Spanish window closes at midnight tonight in which case any deal for VDV will need to be tied up today!?

AS are reporting that Madrid will make a final attempt to sign Ribery today & VDV will leave only if they succeed.

In that case, i see him at Bayern

According to Sid Lowe on talksport earlier VDV would prefer to come to either Germany or England because his wife is ill at the moment with breast cancer.

He is a lovely player. Would be a big hit at the Lane I reckon.

Kranjar is the most realistic. One year left on contract, two ex-team mates Defoe and Crouch, and also Harry.

VDV is most likely to be used as a part of the deal of Ribery.

Logic speaks. Players like van der Vaart insist on playing Cl footie, they dont undersatnd history unless wages are totally OTT (eg Citeh).

Best we'll get is Petrov
