You shouldn't get attacked for doing your job, that said there is definitely an issue around the quality of officiating in the game that seems more prevalent this season, i have found myself a lot more wound up a lot more regularly than in previous seasons, and not just watching Spurs games but other games too.

i can see this sort of thing happening more often which is shit.

Is it the officiating that's the problem or the modern game's forensic analysis of the decisions?

Horrendous situation with a lot of people partly to blame.

Managers effectively inciting hatred of refs and being backed by their clubs.

Players treating refs like animals and acting like spoilt petty children every time anything goes against then.

Fans acting like absolutely morons in the way they react to decisions.

Pundits analysing every single decision within an inch of its life.

Authorities taking something that was supposed to help refs and making everything much worse.

And of course that that of a chairman himself who should be locked up to defend people from his stupidity as much as anything else.

Can you imagine Daniel doing the same?

rushes out with a little stool. Puts it down. Stands on it. Big reach. Whack 😂

then gives him an invoice.

Awful as this incident is, suspending all football because of it seems a bit disproportionate to me.

Yes, I'd send the club down a league, give life time ban to president and kickers.
While letting the law handle the actual violence.
But perhaps the referees are refusing to do games for now?

I think it's a straw (or a fist) breaking the camel's back situation. Turkish football has had enormous problems for a long time so this becomes the trigger point where something has to be done.

I don't know whats been going on in Turkish football recently but I'm assuming this is a tipping point rather than a one-off incident.

And maybe it'll make all the stupid arseholes involved, clubs, players and fans, realise how serious it is.

My personal opinion is that they have made the game far too complicated and all it's achieved is frustration and anger.

In what way is this an English disease?
In the late 70's and early 80's, until Heysel, that's pretty much what most of Europe called football hooliganism. Not that they didn't have it over there, but the high profile stuff always seemed to happen in European games or Internationals and invariably when England or an English team was involved. Back then it was really bad.

At the time I thought the phrase a tad unfair but at the same time, English fans didn't fuck about overseas and the violence was often pretty bad, verging on outright riots in the streets, so you could see why the phrase came about.

Wasn't it in Turkey a couple of years back, that a chairman ran on to the pitch after a game, wearing a handgun on his belt?
May have been Greece?

Totally bonkers though and they certainly need to crack down on this because if a chairman will do it, what does that say to fans?
I'm not surprised if the refs don't want to officiate any games for a while.

Just an incredible quote from the now arrested club president.

"This incident developed due to the wrong decisions and provocative behaviour of the referee. My aim was to react verbally to the referee and spit in his face,” Koca told the court, according to Demiroren News Agency.

“At this time, I slapped the referee in the face. The slap I gave would not cause a fracture. After my slap, the referee threw himself on the ground. They immediately removed me from the scene because I have a heart condition,” Koca was quoted as saying.

Reading that statement it’s clearly just a misunderstanding and no case to answer

and this guy is the club president - he needs locking up for the safety of others and his own safety.
