Asked whether he would get rid of VAR, the Spurs manager said: "I would, in its current form. I just don't think that technology's ready for our game."

"I've got absolutely zero against goalline technology, that's a no-brainer because that's quite significant, but it works for our game," added Postecoglou.

"I just think our game is unique and I know people say, 'well, let's get referees explaining their decisions'. Oh my God. Seriously? Could you imagine sitting there listening to a referee explain every decision on the game."

I saw var being used in the champions league for offside and it looked far superior to what we see in the prem.

They use semi automated AI with ball tracking that uses additional sensors around the stadium. It seems that the prem did not even discuss upgrading the technology for this season but they are now in discussions to get the upgrade.

No reason why this shouldn’t be put in place and then it comes down to dangerous tackles which I don’t think they are far off getting right.

So disagree with Ange on this, think it’s important we have VAR and definitely shouldn’t be scraped, just needs a couple of tweaks.

Headlines are "Ange says VAR should be scrapped"

What he actually says is that in its current form it should be.

You hear this about the CL and the World Cup, but remember that those have the absolute best refs for most of the games. Those guys make fewer howlers (both the ref and the assistant refs) which means most of their mistakes are more in the borderline range which VAR can more often than not leave alone. I'm not saying they don't make errors, but if we had a new metric around ref howlers (say xH/90), it's going to be lower in bigger comps.
