Danny Levy do distressed investing which is common with a property company

Which is why we are always looking at players with

Relegated clubs....one year left of contract....clubs in financial distress

You must be really pissed off that we've signed James Maddison then.

One of the key parts of Moneyball (The film anyway) was that the coach had to understand what was trying to be accomplished and understanding how the pieces fit or else it falls apart. I said above, I think Levy wants to prove his way is right and that I believe it can be but all the different parts of Spurs have to be singing from the same song sheet. Now Ange looks like a manager who would be willing to, I hope there's clear communication.

I think it would be cutting my nose off to spite my face if I didn't say that clearly some issues have been addressed and it gives me some optimism for the future. I think arguably it's that optimism that makes it all the frustrations when the same issues rear their head.

Honestly all I want from the Levy right now is honest communication, I think the fanbase make the mistake of demanding huge changes when thing's aren't going well and I think we'd be better off simply right now, asking for honest communication. Help us understand what the plan is so that your decisions make sense within that context and put faith in us that we aren't too stupid to understand it. Even further if your priority is the investment side and you won't sacrifice it for football, I'd genuinely appreciate just being told that honestly, so that I and other fans can make informed decisions on how invested we are in what happens.
spot on. It’s been said for years and still never changes - levy really doesn’t help himself in what should be one of the easiest areas - club communications to fans.

Is that because he takes the wrong advice from Cullen / Whoever the Head of Comms is? or does he not see value in it?

as you say, if he got that right then even if the context is not to everyone’s liking, at least all other decisions might start to make a bit more sense.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet but the sale of Kane is pure profit for FFP purposes so we could spend that and not worry about it causing any problems on that front. So we should this window be having a net spend of the Kane money, plus whatever we would usually spend. So really our net spend could easily be £200 million this window. If the club wanted to do it of course.

But we do have the deflected purchases such as Porro, Kuve plus actual ones such as VDV, Vicario etc to take into consideration. I admit we will have money to spend but it will be nowhere near £200m. I would think it would be way short of £100m (£80m?) but supplemented by any further sales.

The club is too big for dear Daniel and the board to micro manage, to the point it’s beyond negligible now.

for me he’s tarnished the reputation he’s built when giving us the infrastructure he has, now he’s undone all that purely and simply because he is to pig headed to admit he doesn’t know what he is doing!!

dear Daniel fuck off. Remember your a custodian of this club, you’ve made your billions, let someone else have a crack

I’m not a Levy hater like some, but with the hideous Chelsea transfer strategy I wonder if this also pressures Levy into some transfer action

I don't think what Chelsea do will have any bearing on what Levy does. Nothing pressures him at all. He does what he wants and to hell with what anyone else does

Of course, there is always an excuse not to spend.

Levy knows that the fans are divided and that means he can get away with pulling the wool over our eyes.
The thing is, we've been having this debate in some manner or form for how long now? Sure, the stadium has brought in a new dimension - but the core of the argument remains the same.

And in all these years, the proposed solution has always stayed the same: fan protests. Despite the blindingly obvious evidence at hand that there isn't a big enough number of fans who are willing and/or able to take part in protests for them to be effective.

Over the last couple of months, perhaps for my own sanity, I've posted in this thread trying to stimulate conversation towards exploring new/different solutions. Or at the very least a new framing of the problem. But quite frankly, the Turfies were more successful than me.

So I don't think fans will force a change. And its not because Daniel Levy is some two-bob Moriarty. Its because we're happy to keep performing the same play every season. Which is why I mentioned earlier that I think a significant amount of both anti and pro Levy fans here and on social media are just arguing for the sake arguing. There's no desire for change. The only desire is to argue.

You're assuming there is a plan.

In all seriousness, this has always been an issue with Levy; he doesn't stick to any plan. From DoF/coach model to old fashioned manger and back again - he's okey cokeyed time and time again. Arnesen, Comolli to Redknapp to Baldini to Poch to Paratici.

He's overseen us going from Poch football to Mourinho to Conte and back to Ange; totally contrasting styles which is why we've ended up with a messy, bloated squad - not sticking to a plan.

If he communicated to us, you'd have him on the website every 5 minutes saying 'sorry, change of plan'.

I couldn't tell you the names of Liverpool's or Citeh's chairmen off the top of my head. And that's a good thing for those clubs. Ours is now the most recognisable name remaining. Arse about face.
Is that not because he's been in his role for over 20 years? He's hardly a media whore rent-a-gob is he?

Now wouldn't that make each fans judgement more informed. Can anybody truly give a good reason why we benefit from having clear and open communication?

I think he wants to prove that his way can be successful, which it can and It's hard for me to criticise that mentality as I'm guilty of it myself in my own life. I think knowing when it creeps into allowing it to affect the greater cause then I think there is a valid argument to say that you've unknowingly made it about yourself. That you being right is more important than what's best for everyone.
I'd rather read a post like yours which adds more thought to the conversation than opinion.

If we're counting the purchases of Porro and Kulusevski this window then we have even more room to spend under FFP as it means we spent only £15m in January 2022 and £0 January 2023.

A CB, WF and ST need to be signed before the end of the window all of decent quality, no ‘we tried’ last minute or other excuses, get a few more out the next week or so and then pull the trigger on the 3 positions we desperately still need to give Ange everything he needs and finally for once not leave a manager short in multiple positions.

Go on a Liverpool message board and you will get constant whining about the chairman.

Go on city's, and you'll probably read forum bum licking.

I'm quite certain fans of their particular club talk about them all the time.

Fans of a particular club knowing their own chairman's name is hardly a new thing, nor is complaining about them. Ours right now is probably the most recognisable name - to other fans/people to make it clear this time - still attached to ours.
