It'll be funny if Munn ends up being a bust after all this. I know he seems to be reasonably well thought of but his niche experience also doesn't completely fill me with confidence. Sort of feels like we are basing our hope on his success on him being employed by the City group. Still, better then Levy for now at least one hopes.
does that mean he will be taking over appointing/choosing a manager?

Certainly not from clubs with the PL. Even those one might describe as "relegation fodder" are, thanks to the PL tv deal, super rich compared to most other clubs within the Europe and the rest of the world. Can't complain; without the tv money, clubs like Man United would still be taking away our best players.
Absolutely. The money in the Prem plus the mega money owners changed the landscape.

In the past, we've taken advantage of the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Portsmouth and Southampton when they got relegated and had financial issues.

In recent years there have been talks of clubs needing to sell cheap when relegated from the Prem, such as Bournemouth, but it never happens. City pay big for one of their players and the need for a fire sale is over.

Well one would assume an appointment such as manager will be made by everyone but you would think Munn, even unofficially, will have a large say on the matter. I mean, Kompany and Ange (who are 2 of our supposed 3 favoured options) surely come from his input.

The Grealish thing alone sounds like many stories we've heard, did he not try a similar trick (and got away with it) when signing Hugo from Lyon?

Didn't realise we were so close to signing Moutinho, I thought it was pulled in the end due to 3rd party involvement, fuck sake so annoying.
From memory Moutinho's wages were around £100k a week and at that time our highest earner was on around £50k a week.

Our financial situation was very different at that time and I feel stories like this isn't taking history into account,

So what about the history were Mountinho himself said he was minutes from signing only they submitted the paperwork late?

That didn't match the info at the time. I remember being excited by his potential signing and followed it. Once he went to a club getting paid £100k a week it seemed pretty evident we weren't going to get him.

Just had a conversation where I was told Levy is stepping back from the football side of things after again being put under pressure to do so, and that is what Munn is being brought in. Heard it all before? Yeah, me too.

surely now have a CFO and then a DoF removes him two layers from the managers. Maybe being naive but isn’t this set up in theory the most removed he has ever been.

Sounds like it. As with any change, new manager or new player I'm going to sit back and wait before making any judgment calls.

For whoever is putting pressure on Levy (presumably JL, who else can realistically displace him or do anything to him really?) how hard can it be to effectively monitor him so he doesn't interfere? It's surely no different to any other line of work; if I constantly went against the word of my superiors it wouldn't take very long for them to find out and do something about it.

If Levy truly is getting pressure from the only few other major powers that exist at the club - not for the first time - then how do we end up in the same exact place every 18 to 24 months?

Well I can't be arsed with all that but I'll happily give you an example. The article says Harry wanted Suarez and levy didn't get him for him. The truth is Harry/the club sent sir Les and tactics Tim out to watch him, and their verdict was he wasn't good enough so Harry passed. Whatever Harry might say about it now(and he's the king of twisted self promoting hindsight) that was 100% how it was. IIRC it was Gullit that had recommended him whilst they were both on pundit duty, and was dumbfounded at our appraisal.
I remember it was because we had vdv at the time and array said he didn't think Suarez and vdv could play in the same team and he couldn't play as a target man

We had Adebayor at the time no? No chance we were only paying him 50k a week.
