Has anyone seen the build up and the start to the triple jump?

BBC hyping up Philips Idowu too much

The number Philips Idowu has is 1809, the same number that Kelly Homes had and also the Olympic record for the triple jump.

They are suggesting that, (based on past results and stats) that his first jump will be sufficient to get a medal!

Just done his 3rd jump, thought he was slow on the run up, but just went into the lead with 17.62m

He's choked.

Damn it.

Edit: A bit harsh, apparently would have needed a personal best (according to BBC) to win, but still a tad disappointing.

What about Prince Octopus Dzanie (Ghana). He must be gutted, he is called Prince Octopus and he can't even get an honourable mention in the silly name competition, let alone a medal.

Edit: Just noticed they were just for kayaking.

They are having to investigate the Chinese gymnastics team as it seems they might have pulled an African footballer trick and lied about people's ages.

Also the head of the IOC has said Britain's Ben Ainslie's achievement in winning a third sailing gold is the equal of Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt. "For me, his achievement is as valid as Phelps or Bolt," said Rogge.

"I don't like to compare athletes from different sports, but Ben Ainslie competes in a boat class where he can only win one medal. The others (Phelps and Bolt) can win two, three... all the way up to eight. What they do is fantastic, but what Ainslie does is equally fantastic."

"The Athens Olympics was a return to the roots, to the country that invented the Olympics. London should be the return to the country which invented modern sport. There is fantastic tradition, but also the way of life, the way you approach and play sport."

Lyudmila Blonska has faild her drugs test as well. Doesn't effect us getting any more medals but puts Sotherton up to 4th.

They also realy need to look at the boxing scoring. The Irish guy is well pissed off, and rightly too. Wasn't going to win but should have scored some points that it looked like the Chinese boxer got instead

Absolutely. That's why I think that Sir Steve Redgrave's acheivement is as great, if not greater than that of Phelps' or Spitz'.

Carl Lewis is probably about the best, though.

The scoring has ben a joke from start to finish, i would imagine a few fighters are pleased to get out of there and get on with their professional careers, or prepare for 2012!

There is talk of the points scoring being changed for 2012. If Price makes the final on Sunday and fights as predicted the Chinese fighter he won't win it as the judges have shown they favour Chinese boxers.

I think there might be a failed drug's test in the women's long jump. The Brazilian lady that jumped over 7 metres for the first time in her life to take the lead was suspended not so long ago for failing a drug's test. The only reason she is in the Olympics is because the Brazilian courts accepted her story that she failed her drug's test because of a hair removal cream she used.

Why didnt she just have a 'Brazilian'..........mmmmmmmmm, very suspicous,.
It is overly obvious, with regard to the bias in points judging, in the boxing!
