Great. More congested middle of the pitch with no players being able to move about and no width. Basically the complete opposite of what we need!

We were hardly complaining when it was

Eriksen Dele
Kane Son

Our width has always come from our fullbacks and Infact Lamela is more suited to being out wide as an inside forward.

I will give Pochettino the benefit of a doubt until Lo Celso and Sessegnon are fit to play. He got the players he wanted this summer and hopefully he had a plan on how to rejuvenate this Spurs team.

I have more or less accepted that this will be transition season for us now. I can definitely see us finishing outside the top four. Eriksen and Alderweireld will leave, Vertonghen might as well. I do hope Pochettino turns this around but maybe it's for the best if Pochettino mutually leaves after this season and a new manager can build his own foundation.
Not another transition season!!!
Maybe they should all get rid of their manager too now ?
They probably will.

Colchester will be dispatched, we will smash Southampton, then pull off a 2-1 win vs Bayern, we will get over the line with 3 points vs Brighton, we will then hammer Watford and lastly collect 3 points vs Red Star.

So, the next game where we will drop points will be Liverfool away. But by then everything will be rosier and things will be back to normal ?

Son was usually stationed out wide on the left (where he should play). I thought you had him up front with Kane. Dele was there. Eriksen floated about. But yeah width from the fullbacks. No idea why we don’t go back to that style despite the injuries.

To be honest, I know you won't enjoy this approach but I reckon we might be making adjustments because Kane isn't all action anymore. Son works well centrally as we saw vs Palace and for our goal vs Leicester but more so I wonder if he's the better option for initiating the press, Kane can then behind him and benefit from the extra space and also not having to cover as much ground. Then yeah the problem is Dele/Lamela would be asked to operate in the wider areas which I agree isn't ideal but both have shown in the past they're capable of doing it and maybe there's a scenario where they operate out wide during the defensive aspects of the game but come inside with overlapping fullbacks when we are in possession.

Disagree. Lamela is far more suited in the middle. Which imo is one of the reasons he’s been our most consistent performer this season so far.

Everytime I think about it I end up with the thought of Pochettino doesn't want to be there anymore. Maybe this is the reason why players aren't getting behind his ideas.

I would love if he can come next and give a huge statement saying he wants to stay and make things better instead of saying the usual bullshit he says.

"Tottenham is unbelievable, when you see from the outside. The best training facilities, the best stadium. Fanbase... everything is fantastic.
But you need time to rebuild yourself, and start again.
I am happy, and I hope I can extend my life here, which will be good for us, good for the club. But In the end it's in the hands of the results and Daniel"

That was 2 weeks ago, What more do you want really? Tottenham till I die tattooed across his chest ?

I agree about not bringing in too many players in the last window, the issue I see it is the windows prior either Jan if it was possible or the summer, we should've have got in a left and right full back at minimum and a CM those areas were killing us as the fullbacks either weren't creating or defending and CM was too slow and ponderous.

Come January preferably but definitely in the summer we need need to be getting in another LB and RB, a CB and another GK option.

Short term there're are things I see as glaringly obvious,
  • Sanchez being put at RB just nooooo you can see the rest of the team despair with that decision (I'm not blaming Davinson either)
  • Lucas next to Kane; I've never never been sold on it, they constantly take each others space that combined with crap wingbacks mean it's all too narrow, predictable and easy to defend against.
  • Persisting with a diamond to accommodate Lamela, if our fullbacks were more productive maybe this wouldn't be such a problem.
  • I know football is a quad game these days but at times I feel Poch rotates unnecessarily or too many, how the heck is anyone supposed to build up an understanding?
  • Football is a simple game I feel occasionally coaches make unnecessarily complicated.
  • If there are players not wanting to be here anymore then don't use them, I'd rather the places went to an academy player.
  • It almost feels like we need another Ryan Mason moment to happen in the dressing room.

Poch has earned the time to sort this but there must be a tipping point; hopefully CE isn't the only one whose had his head spun. Someone suggested burnout I did wonder that myself; would it have been beneficial to have sent him on holiday for a couple of weeks and let Perez take the Carabao fixture for example should we have sent him off on holiday over the last international break.

I've no idea, long term I hope it works out obviously, otherwise who comes in Howe? Benitez? Jose?
At some point you need to look at our club where and when it's succeeded and what we've tried and what's worked and agree that it may not be the management at fault.
I don't want rid of DL either and I hope what he said regarding the stadium finance restructuring* and the player recruitment thing was for the benefit of others (i.e so we don't get an inflated price when trying to buy players) and that behind closed doors the thinking is slightly different because if I heard that as a player or manager I'd be questioning things.

*which I don't fully understand.

Sorry for the lengthy post.

I meant in terms of playing a 4222 and having the attacking midfielders sometimes moving out wide, I think he's better suited to it than Eriksen is.

I know this isn’t the point you were making, but this bit really irks me. Why the fuck do we have to start again?

Yeah I think Kane isn’t the same player. I mentioned it yesterday. So there could well be something in what you say without doubt.

Because Toby, eriksen, vertonghen are done contract wise, aurier, and rose want to leave perhaps

Sissoko is in his 30s now
I'd say there's alot of a rebuild that needs doing.

It's all in that same interview, 5 years culminated with the CL final which he didn't think was possible. Now he wants to build a new project

And when that project gets us to nearly winning something I suppose we start all over again. And rinse and repeat.

Has he ever gone record explaining why members of the first team squad don't get minutes with the U23's to build fitness when returning from injury?

Yep let's sack the fraud , bring In Mourhino. Sit back and enjoy the great footy, squad harmony no moaning that he can't spend money and that finishing 7th with these restrictions is the biggest achievement of his life

Roll on!
