I think those are reasonable aims. I believe the club has been actively trying to bring in 3 players of that calibre.Well I wouldn't consider Zaha in the superstar calibre just yet, I think there's a deal there from the ITK it didn't like a 70 mill deal neither. I'd be looking at players like Diawara from Napoli who have also been linked with Aurier and I'd be keen on that and promoting KWP. Diawara hasn't made too many appearences for them so I don't think his fee would be astronomical. I'd be fairly happy with Grealish aslong as we didn't spunk a silly amount there way. as alternatives to Grealish I'd have been keen on Seri or Maddison who both went for a reasonable fee. I'd probably try and patch things up with Alder so we didn't need to spend on a cb but I wouldn't be in a rush to replace him if he was sold because Dier could drop back with Diawara coming in.
So there you go
Grealish
Diawara
Zaha
Whilst selling Aurier and Alder and then all the riff raff
Would you say that those 3 would bankrupt us? Because in my mind they're not superstars who would demand ridiculous fees
Correct. But if they really were picky with signings like Sissoko, you have to wonder what the criteria were.Just because they've not been successful, doesn't mean they weren't picky though.

Grealish we know about. Diawara is happier now under Ancelotti who rates him - but someone of his calibre I agree would be great. And Zaha is a difficult one to negotiate but we have been linked with him and Martial all summer.
As far as I can see we are doing what we can to bring in exactly what you want. Let’s stay positive and judge in a week !
If people are going to quote the being brave quote can they at least read the context they were said in. It really has been misquoted so many times. Sure it may be a veiled message towards levy but it is not as dramatic as people are making out. The context and tone of what he said has been entirely lost. This is what he did say:
“
We are thinking now we need to make our new stadium home and we know it will be tough in the beginning to settle there," he told a post-match news conference."
"I have a very clear idea of what we need to do. I don't know if the club will agree with me or not, but we are going to talk next week to create what I think we need to do together to improve."
"Until today it was so difficult to talk about the future, but from now we need to decide the way and how we are going to operate in the future."
"Our fans need to know what we are going to do and our fans need to feel the reality of the club and we need to tell the truth and create a very good expectation we can achieve. We cannot create dreams that we are not going to achieve."
"The first step is to be close and challenge the sides who invest more than us and find a way. We need to think our reality is different and our fans need to think and be happy and support us because we are not a club who will spend crazy money."
"I think Daniel is going to listen to me, but you know sometimes I might have some crazy ideas. With our unbelievable fans, sometimes you need to be brave and take risks. I think the club is in a moment where they need to take risks."
Yeah you make some valid points.I agree with your post, but there wasn't "too much pickiness" when it came to Sissoko. I'm sure he's a lovely guy but he is a woeful footballer.
And Poch's statement about preferring to play home grown kids than signing players doesn't hold up when it comes to KWP, who I refuse to believe wouldn't have done at least as well as Aurier last season. As for GKN, why not try Edwards?
I think Poch and Levy have been fantastic and I support them both, but some of the signings in the last couple of years have been far from picky.
If we fail to back Poch in this window, it could well be the beginning of the end. Keeping him, and more importantly keeping him happy, is paramount.
Maybe an exagerration on my part but I hope it's never tested.
We kinda know that, and the answer is the player he was against us and in the Euros. We've not seen him play like that since.Correct. But if they really were picky with signings like Sissoko, you have to wonder what the criteria were.
LOL 'Bsodl.' I'm not Bsodl, or whatever the inverse of Bsodl is because I'm actually capable of thinking about things with a modicum of fucking nuance.Bsodl’s resorting to beating up on someone using poor grammar on a thread with nothing to do with grammar. You realize SC has its own thread dedicated to grammar(the opposing fans thread), yeah? Take your gripes with my poorous grammar to the grammar thread.
Isn't that always the way? Once again, the idea of us signing nobody seems to have sent half of this forum (and the press) into a state of panic. Perhaps we already have a decent enough squad? Perhaps +£40m on Zaha (and over £100k per week salary), might not be such a good idea. Would he play every week? Is he that much better than what we already have? I'm really not convinced. Same goes for Grealish at possibly £20m. I can't help thinking that the days of buying domestic really are up. Or if you do, you do have to wait until the very last minute to drive some of these insane prices down. £22m for Son seems like unbelievably good business today. Imagine what the asking price would have been had he already been playing in the premiership.
Players signed by the rest of the top six who MIGHT get into our regular first xi from last season:
Naby Keita, Jorginho, Fred, Mahrez.
Hardly a disaster is it?
I’m personally very excited to see what last seasons side can do with yet another year’s familiarity and growth.
Correct. But if they really were picky with signings like Sissoko, you have to wonder what the criteria were.
Strength in depth. Playing on four fronts the Poch way is demanding and a drop in quality can cost. Plus Winks/Vic/Lamela have injuries and Dembele is on the decline. This squad needs to evolve both within and from without; the best teams doPlayers signed by the rest of the top six who MIGHT get into our regular first xi from last season:

Erm... have you seen Breaking Bad? That's pretty good. The end of the club? But what would we talk about?
All would challenge for a stating spot, but these two in particular definitely get in IMO

Do you really think Poch shares that feeling? Because I really don't.
To me it's abundantly clear he's gotten everything he possibly can out of this squad and in order to progress we had to invest this summer.
We've got a good team with some great players, if we sign no one it's not going to be an apocalyptic season. We might even still get top 4, however there's more to it than that. Poch is too good a manager to be happy with steadily just getting top 4 and not winning anything.
I genuinely think now was the window to build upon what he has done and the only way to do that was to give him a couple of quality players to improve his options. We've stood still so far, maybe we'll get away with it and keep getting away with it, but right now the only way is down in my opinion.
The market has changed, it's a damn good job we had Kane and managed to pick up Dele and Eriksen back in the day because we'd be screwed (in terms of wanting top 4) the way we operate.
