Seriously though, the mods seem fairly chipper. They know stuff. Only transfer itk related stuff mind, not much else. But they know stuff and seem relaxed. Hmmm :pompous:
I know nothing. That’s the only thing that’s keeping me calm. If I kept up to date with every rumour I’d probably be rocking back and forth like half the people here.

The Mods know... that people go crazy here twice a year for transfers and every match day. Plus other days for other reasons.

Unbelievable that the happy clapping Levyites still won't hear any criticism of him.

You've even got the best manager Spurs have had in decades publicly saying he doesn't know wtf is happening and can't explain the lack of signings and people still kid themselves that all is well behind the scenes. Benitez said similar the other day and was laughed out of town because we all know the problems he is having up there. Now we've got out own manager saying it.

Levy has made one great appointment in 20 years and he is really running the risk of upsetting him and I wouldn't bank on levy getting it right again with his replacement. I really don't get why some on here are so bullish about the idea Poch could leave next summer because of the lack of ambition shown this summer.

You've been warned. It could easily end in tears very quickly and we still have no trophies.
Post revolutionary Russia has nothing on the internal SC power struggle between the Levyites and the Pochinistas

He is the best manager we have had in years, his man management skills are second to none, the players love him, but the chairman won’t back, if he left and I wouldn’t blame him, you won’t win anything at this club with DL in charge. DL is a great chairman, but always works with limited resources, he won’t spend to win, but will spend to survive, we are to big a club for that, if we don’t win things or challenge next year, Kane, Ali, Erickson will all go and I wouldn’t blame them....

Out of interest, can any of the BSoDL tell me if they'll be taking Papa Levy onto the Kyle show if he fucks you over? DNA tests, lurching at him over the armchairs, ranting and storming off into the green room and being followed by Kyle and a bouncer, a bit of effing and blinding, a spot of ad hoc counselling, the whole shebang.

If so, just for a bit of authenticity, can you make sure you've a load of tats, a few missing teeth and have one wayward eye?

Okay I’ll bite, but only because I know you really want someone too ;)

I don’t think the majority of the Bastard Sons object to Levy being criticised. I think the point of contention is the sheer level of vitriol, rage and hyperbolic whinging emanating from posters who seem far more concerned with finding any excuse to slag of Levy (irrespective of available facts or lack of) than they are with being spurs supporters. Because any spurs supporter should realise by now that a) they know very little as to why we’ve yet to sign anybody and it could in fact not be levy’s fault at all, and b) that regardless of what happens in the window, what counts is the football on the pitch which, recent years suggest, is again going to be pretty fucking good because of the level of player we have at this club.

To add a finer point to it, our regular first xi of the past two seasons contains no fewer than 9 players who were in action during the final weekend of the World Cup. That’s not including any of Son, Eriksen or Sanchez.

When you see Richarlison going for £50m, it’s pretry fucking hard to improve on that. You might ask, well what about improving the overall squad? Well it’s still not easy, what the fuck as Lamela, Moura, Wanyama, Davies and Aurier? Chop suey? No, they’re players who, if Richarlison is worth £50m, are also bloody difficult to upgrade on.

I want signings too. I want Dembele and Sissoko replaced with far more creative players (CM and WF) and I want Alderweireld and Rose replaced with players who actually want to be here. That said, even if none of this happens and all we do is announce new deals for Eriksen and Dele, we still have a brilliant squad for our potentially brilliant manager to work with and should by rights finish in the top three again, something that was quite unimaginable pre Levy,

Staying at Spurs will do his reputation no good. He is down as one of the top coaches in Europe, we are lucky to have him but he won't stay and neither should he if he isn't backed. He deserves better.

I can see this point of view but imo an manager working with one of the best academies, best training facilities and best stadiums in the world is prettY much the definition of being “backed”.

It’s not all about spunking 70 million on a shiny new play thing. It’s about the long term and bigger picture

Also, on the DL doesn’t spend thing.... every top club bar Liverpool spends around 50% of its turnover on wages, and Liverpool are one non top 6 season away from needing to do a fire sale to balance the books. Why should we, the club with the lowest turnover in the top six over the past two decades, be any different? I think people seriously underestimate how far behind we’ve come from and, in many respects, still are. And please don’t point to Joe Lewis being a billionaire. Joe Lewis is majority shareholder in enic, who are majority shareholder in Tottenham Hotspur FC, and all three are separate legal persons. Tottenham Hotspur can only spend what Tottenham has, Joe Lewis isn’t a benefactor and Enic itself can’t give handouts out as it has shareholders, even minor ones, to whom it has a duty of care to act responsibly.

We already have a billionaire sugar daddy he just chills on his yacht in the Bahamas and spends 38m on fucking paintings rather than us
You do realise he's just knocked our 36k stadium down to build a 62k one... don't you?

Is "Levy time" a myth, largely perpetuated by the media? Is it a deliberate strategy, designed to deliver best value? Or is it a consequence of our position in the pecking order? I can't help thinking it's probably a little bit of all of these things.

How about you complain when our results are bad because we didn’t sign someone who was gettable. Until then CHILL. The transfer market is not the end goal - it is a means to an end. There’s no such thing as a transfer market trophy. Also...

Recycled post:

We cannot compete with big hitters in the transfer market. The only players that will improve our squad atm are players that will be desirable to other teams with more money than us. In order to secure those signings we cannot start a bidding war with those clubs because we will lose. Therefore leaving it late gives us a chance of staying under the radar and out manoeuvring other teams. In part this is because the selling club will not be able to provoke a bidding war.

But this is made especially difficult because the EPL has an earlier transfer deadline than elsewhere. This - along with clubs like PSG and Liverpool spending silly money - has distorted the market. Clubs are sizing each other up and trying to determine whether silly money is the new normal or whether we have seen a lot of crazy distortions.

I hope this gives you reason to be optimistic that, whilst conditions are tougher than they have ever been, we may well have a strategy and a semblance of control and planning.

Don't understand why Poch seems so perturbed in his most recent comments. I mean, we have the highest paid chairman in the league, there's no way he could screw this all up.

Quite right. I meant to say to you that art is a far better investment (particularly at the top end) than a football club is. He’s a smart man for investing in art.

We signed Sissoko, Janssen, GKN & Wanyama that summer.

Yep. Victor aside, that’s the same pic n’ mix bag of shite that the ITKs say is cockblocking our transfer activity because, surprise surprise, we no one wants to pay good money for pish.

And Vic was average/injured for most of last year. The hypocrisy on some here is funny. Not saying that is you.

They've all still done something and have likely improved their squad options. Who cares what other teams are doing but Jorginho would walk into our team by the way.

Well clearly people do care what the other teams are doing because they keep comparing the transfer activity and how they've "improved".

We will see how all these new players get on in the PL in a few weeks time.

I'm as disappointed as anyone that we haven't improved yet but there's still a few days to go. I trust Poch to do a good job again this season, new players or not
