What we think the rules are (and this is going to be relevant tomorrow)...

We can only loan 2 players from another premier league club at any one time (we have 0).
We can only loan 4 players in total (from any Association) in a single season (we have 2, hopefully to be 3 shortly).

So we have 2 loan spots this season open, 1 if we get Kulusevski. It doesn't matter if it's prem or international as we're under the 2 prem loans cap.
I had assumed when we loaned Romero we would be signing him permanently next window. Has the injury now kicked that down to the summer? Was there an obligation based on appearances?

It's not 100% clear because of this: With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

We don't know if the maximum loans registered applies only to English clubs.

- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.
The first part to what you have copied and pasted is

there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

Edit really unsure why I've got off topic ratings for this? I'm giving info to the site owner and pointing out a salient piece of missing info

Those saying we are done after the Juve pair....

There is a reason imo we've made one of them a straight purchase and not a loan with option/obligation is because it leaves us with one spot free for a further loan. Much easier to do a loan quickly than it is to do a complicated purchase.

From everything being said right now, I still expect one more tomorrow and I wouldn't rule out 2.

Just to add once the loan is done the obligation/option can be added after the window shuts if need be.
great info, cheers Trix as always

Hoping it's not the case but guessing Amrabat would be loan number 4 from Italy. Hopefully it's something more exciting.

pleasantly surprised that may be another 2 in tomorrow, no solid links to anyone but would imagine discussions are underway rather than waiting for something to fall into our lap?

Dammit, that rules out Dybala on loan…

Reckon Betancur took the spot Amrabat would have taken. If we get another loan I reckon it would probably be an opportunistic, left field move as I can't think of anyone else we've been linked to that's an obvious contender for a loan.

FWIW I did find this:

'A Premier League spokeswoman told football.london that clubs can loan up to four players from non-Premier League sides in the same national association, from the Championship for instance, and reiterated that "international loans do not count as part of the quota either".'

i think the quota only applies to loans from clubs in england, so as many as you like from foreign clubs, at least that's how the rules read to me

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2021/22, there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

I thought Betancur was a purchase...

So what's the situation report now? I'm losing track of what's on and off and happening a little..

done?
Clarke -> Sunderland

Pretty much done?
Kulusevski <- loan with option (pending)
Bentacur <- permanent around £20m (pending)
Ndombele -> Lyon (pending)

Nothing happening yet?
GLC
Dele
Doherty
Rodon

I had a feeling some ins were pending outs, but it's like the hokey-kokey right now

Yeah but cos we've got Kulusevski on loan and already have Gollini and Romero, we can only have one more, right?

Bentancur takes the Amrabat spot positionally rather than the loan spot.

Still not sure I fully understand the loan rules though tbh.

Its pretty clear the restriction do not apply to clubs outside of England, and the few Welsh clubs that compete in the pyramid.
