Well done Gareth, give your backing to a player based solely on his side of the story hours before he's found guilty of assaulting police.

Why not just wait? All these commentators saying "if he's found to have done something wrong". He has been found to have done something wrong. He's guilty.

Until and unless that changes, treat him accordingly.

Innocent until found guilty.

But even if he was innocent and they didn't charge him, I wouldn't have picked him and said he has too much going on just now to sort.... One way to save face and not have to pick him, especially before the verdict was given.

Innocent until proven guilty, sure, but just don't pick him and see what the verdict was.

Really strange decision not to pick a single left back.

Joe Gomez plays there for Liverpool sometimes. I think the options there are pretty limited at the moment and it's not like Southgate can check and see who's in form.

Just fucking stupid to have internationals week before the season starts. All internationals should have been abandoned until second half of the season when they could fully know if the Euros can go ahead next summer or not..

Can guarantee that Kane will play the full 180 minutes in these two games and then come the end of the season the press/southgate etc will be moaning about how he is burnt out.

Southgates's pretty good at substituting and rotating players. I'd be surprised if Kane played 180 minutes.

Pretty ridiculous that Grealish has been left out. Southgate said it's because he's competing with Rashford, Sterling, Sancho and Greenwood.

Except he's nothing like any of those players and doesn't play in their positions. If Grealish played for any top 6 club he'd instantly be called up.

Wasn't he in trouble during lockdown? I wouldn't be surprised if that was the real reason.

It was a bit more than Walker wasn't it? Drink driving and leaving the scene of a crash.

I think this is definitely it. Southgate goes on so much about the character of his players and settin a good example. He made Kane his captain for more than 1 reason.

Yep, and can you imagine the stick Southgate would've got in the press for picking him and Maguire in the same squad.

Some mention about Maguire returning to the squad. Do it I say, any extra chance for opposition players to get tired or pick up an injury is welcome.

Obviously not happy with Southgate's decision to leave him out. Some pundits is suggesting him returning to play for Ireland

Stupid stuff like that just justifies Southgate's decision to leave him out in the first place.

Who's he signing for? Shame it won't be Spurs.
