Sounds promising. And, if we do actually go for 3 CBs, that would seem to put an end to the Dier contract extension talks.

Lets see how it goes.

No Laporte or a marquee is what I meant he’s one of the top targets needs to be signed off by the new manager tho but this is being discussed with the leading candidate.

Thx for the clarification!

Still sounds promising, and I like that we are in discussions with the potential manager about it, so perhaps we won't dawdle on it.

Laporte would be an utterly fantastic signing. Really surprised we'd even have a chance.

One of the best ball-playing CBs in Europe and still hugely under-rated.

Good chance Laporte will join this summer been talking with his camp for months also could be followed by Evan ndicka on a free once the manager has been sorted in the coming weeks
That would be great, but I'd be shocked if we sign both.

Laporte - I can 100% understand him wanting to join for increased playing time.

Ndicka - Although we'd be a step up for him, I'd be surprised at him be willing to join us as an understudy. If we didn't also sign Laporte, Ndicka would be expecting to make the starting spot his own (even if it this doesn't happen straight away in reality).

that would be a bit of a coup. Though I don’t understand why he would choose us over CL football at numerous more successful clubs.

That would be fantastic upgrade and far better news than I was expecting. BUT the proof is in the pudding!

Money, and playing time. I'm not sure what other teams are in the market for a starting LCB. But, I assume we can out-pay any non-English club.

play like absolute shit for months in order to convince teams you're no longer a threat so they don't block star players joining, genius.

laporte would be an amazing addition, i agree.

Man City may not now view us as competition and be happy for to join us
I don't think Man City think like that - they are more pragmatic. They want to sell, they will sell to anyone. See Jesus and Sterling last summer - Man City just wanted them gone, did not matter where. Even Cancelo this year to Bayern - a CL rival.

Really can't see us concluding deals for both Laporte and Ndicka personally.

Laporte would be the standout signing - we can forget the likes of Bastoni for megabucks so a cut priced move for someone of Laporte's caliber would be not only prudent but massively encouraging for us.

Although, just because I think it would be a fantastic signing, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't be concerned that we are seemingly making big football decisions before a DoF and manager have been put in place...

Edit - Hadn't seen the next bit of info from WLB which is more reassuring.

No wonder Laporte was crying yesterday!!! City to our cluster F*ck!! Seriously though he'd be an outstanding signing. Having seen to much of Ndicka but hopefully an upgrade on Lenglet. Wonder how much City would want for Laporte
