Tanganga will be a CB in back 3, and Emerson/Doherty will be wingbacks. Same goes for Reggie & Sess on the left side.

Pretty balanced squad to me for 343 or 352.

Did this make it in here?

Mike McGrath said on Romano’s show this morning that we want a striker in after Emerson today. I saw the clip on Reddit but uncertain of posting links from there in this thread.

I hope he is right and others wrong but it’s getting very late now.

So all along Levy was gatekeeper of the cash. Here's me thinking we were free of him and the Don could sign more or less who we wanted within parameters. Levy would just sign off the deals, not poke his nose in. I don't know what Fab's remit is but he must be happy with it otherwise he's gone, espiecally when Levy palms all the flak off onto him.

The worrying thing is that Levy probably believes that this is a top four squad. It's not impossible, but it's pretty unlikely.

That's been Uncle Fester's problem for years, we're bigger than a lot of clubs but don't have the recent history of achievement and he seems to think that the stadium, training ground and "ambition" will attract players and managers alike.

Disappointing if we aren't able to shift the players wanting out (bar Kane...)

I am still hoping someone will make a late bid and we can try and get another deal in....
Tbh Ndombele is pretty much impossible to shift with his wages and work ethic and didn't we have ITK how Aurier is turning down clubs just for fun of it? We've managed to ship out every other who wanted out (Sissoko and Alderweireld) if I don't forget someone.

Loving some of the comments that are along the lines of 'we had a good window' which tacitly condone Levy's interference. Some people are missing the point:

If he interferes this time, he'll interfere next time, and the time after that, and the time after that. So why hire a DoF in the first place? What's the point? Why have two experienced football people in charge of recruitment if you're not going to let them do their jobs? Jobs that you pay them to do?
For all we know, Fab went to Levy and said we can get him but they want x and it’s more than he’s worth. What do you think? It’s sort of pointless for all of us to make sweeping judgments re Levy being the villain when we don’t know the full story and we don’t even know if the transfer would have been a good one based on Traore’s performance.

I’m as disappointed as anyone that we are not fixing all our problems in one window but you have to be a pretty strong side to begin with to achieve that and we’ve atrophied for several years. My main criticism is that we didn’t move when we were peaking after that Leicester year. That’s where we missed an opportunity.

For now, we’ve picked up a lot of promising younger players who will hopefully be the foundation for future sustained success and that is encouraging to me. If we moved the needle this much every window we’d get to where we all want to be.

Is it not at all possible Levy has stepped in to call Wolves bluff and hopefully bring the price down? Will Adama be a £50m player next summer with 1 year remaining?
Plenty of time to go, anything can still happen.

It's ridiculous. Certain people, and not just these two I've quoted, actually appear happy to be able to tell others they were right about Levy and the transfer window.

Happy that we are likely to be left short in a key area or 2, all to be able to say they were right on an Internet forum where they likely actually don't know anyone.

No I'm not. I even said weeks ago that I hoped all the ITK was correct and Levy is taking a back seat, and we have money to spend and inbounds don't depend on outgoings (that might turn out to be true).

I wanted some of my posts to come back and haunt me, even now I still have a hope that people will be able to quote them back at me.

They have no reason to sell Traore, so no. They are not bluffing.

He does seem to have links as ITK has backed up his stories but I don't believe we've actually signed any of the players he broke stories on.

I definitely feel mixed but overall I think a decent window probably a 6 - 7/10 for me. Just like with Poch we were never going to have every player we wanted out actually leave in this window. I think with swapping Lamela, Toby, Sissoko, and Hart with Gil, Romero, Skipp, and Gollini is brilliant business.

Like everyone else, I'm concerned that we don't have a back up forward or Adama since that is who Nuno wanted, but what can you do. I am glad we're not getting someone in for the sake of it. Maybe we have a feeling in January or next Summer we're able to get an elite striker then again rather than force one in now.

At some point we'll have to see if Bergwijn or Lucas can step up from being good every other match to being a mainstay in the side - but that's why we bought them. I really hope Bergwijn can see the trust from Nuno and take a leap in his young career. If not, I think that's where we'll fall a bit short. Also, the Ndombele situation will continue to be interesting.

Anyways, cheers to all the ITK as usual, appreciate it as always!

There are a lot of players still here that needed to be gone and a few positions in the squad that are either weaker or the same as last season. Regardless of individual moves, that fact makes this window more than a bit underwhelming. Some good signings made and a few important departures, but not nearly enough. Best we can hope for come the end of the season is Europa League, I hope the club realise that.

I remember the last time Levy signed someone at the last minute on deadline day to keep us all quiet after a shit window.

He ended up spunking £30m on Sissoko.

I think the window has been good in many areas and we have built for the future. However we always seem to be just short and that can be frustrating. I accept we have financial limitation but the quote below from the goat about Levy’s view does concern me.

‘’Is adamant that we're creating enough chances and have enough attackers as it is.’’

How is Levy in a position to make this call, that is the call of the manager, trainers, scouts and DoF not the chairman.

Who suggested that?
Pretty much anyone saying to just spend the money are suggesting it. There's obviously a budget that Paratici has for this window and if Levy doesn't sanction a deal it means we're going over that budget. Most likely due to Wolves insisting on payment in full. I'm sure we could make it work if it were possible to pay in installments.

I'm having to explain again - it's not the quality of the window at issue; it's the interference by the chairman.

This is the second bullet from the Goat:
[Levy] adamant that we're creating enough chances and have enough attackers as it is.
That is not appropriate. He should not be the one influencing the makeup of the squad in any way, shape or form.

If Paratici and Nuno and Hitchen and any other of the staff actually involved in the footballing side of things feel the squad needs another attacker, Levy's opinion should have zero bearing. If they can't buy one according to the budget he sets, that's their problem to fix. It's not for him to decide how many attackers we should have.

So let me get this straight. We have signed a CB so highly rated that Messi had a hissy fit because Barcelona didn't get him first, massively improving in a key position. We then signed one of the most talented young attacking players in Spain. We have now taken further advantage of Barcelona's financial woes to nab one of their RBs, massively improving in another key position. We have managed to keep the best striker in the world. And we are now having a meltdown because Levy won't sanction a £50 million bid for Adama Traore!?!
