Really hard to be even slightly positive after the last two games. The whole squad seems to have major weaknesses. At this moment, it's hard to be upbeat about next season.

As a group, we were much happier with the squad after beating Newcastle and that was only a week ago! I think the UEFA cup had a part to play in today's non-performance - it's an exhausting distraction that leaves no time for training. Harry got slated for not taking it seriouslywhile AVB got slated for taking it too seriously. Sherwood got slated for trying to find a middle ground.

Amazing to think that this is the same squad (Bale apart) that people thought could challenge for the title in the summer. Kaboul's injury has been a setback and none of the signings have really performed as we'd like.

I think it's pretty telling that he hasn't left yet despite having a couple of loans out. I know he's had his donkey moments but he's still a decent keeper that had a good reputation in Holland. Surely, someone would've come in for him. I think he doesn't want to leave. Probably enjoys life in London and the wages he's on.

Somebody did try and buy him, can't remember who. But they didn't want to pay the £10 mil that Levy wanted for him.

I'm more concerned about losing players outside of our control at this moment in time....

I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of the current squad left, save Eriksen. I think he's genuinely class and will be the next Modric/Bale/VDV. We just need to keep him and build the team around him.

Lloris isn't that good. None of my non-Spurs supporting mates rate him that highly. Infact, one remarked the other day that our defence always looks like its in panic stations and its often due to Lloris' kamikaze charges out of his goal.

I'd never really thought about this before, but I've kept a closer eye on Lloris in the last 15 or so games since that comment was made and I have to say i'm starting to come round to this way of thinking. I think we shouldn't be too upset if PSG offered us massive money and we spent it on a safe pair of hands (nothing spectacular) and had a load of money left over.

Also, I don't think people should get too upset if Vertonghen left either. He's no King. One of the most overrated players by our fans. He's decent, don't get me wrong. But he gets away with a lot of mistakes with none of our fans batting an eye lid. Case in point the goal we conceded in Europa on Thursday.

I'd even be tempted to sell Sandro and Kaboul, as you just cannot rely on someone so injury prone. Its ridiculous the amount of times him and Kaboul are out.

Ultimately, unlike Modric/VDV and Bale, there is not one player in our current squad other than Eriksen who wouldn't be easily replaceable with like-for-like quality. All IMO, of course.

Dawson
Naughton
Gomes
Brad
Siggs

I would upgrade on Rose and Lennon and keep them as squad players...no more than that.

Any of the 7 that came last year could leave.

LVG is the only thing that could possibly make them stay, but I'm guessing some of their heads are already out the club.

As for first four, you realize that we need to get some homegrown replacements if we ship 4 out or use smaller squad? Bit pissed off at selling Caulker in that aspect, was club trained too.
Yes. I'd go for Berahino from WBA & Clyne from Southampton if doable and bring Carroll back into the squad.

British sub keeper could be useful as well in that regard.

They've still got a bit of the season to prove me wrong but as it stands:

Michael Dawson. Has to go, or at the very least be 5th choice. Replace with Fabian Schar please.
Kyle Naughton.
Gylfi Sigurdsson. Had about 3 good games during his Spurs career, just not good enough.
Lennon. More chance of a bad game than a good one these days. Just don't know who'd want him for the price Levy would be quoting.
Gomes. Let's spend the wage savings wisely.
Assou-Ekotto. I would bring in a solid LB so he can go.

As for Rose, I still believe he should stay but only as a backup. We can't afford to sell too many English HG players.

Nah, he's gotta just go now, it's time....way past time.

Come on lads, our squad isn't that bad. I think we've got lots of good players, just no balance.

As I've said in the 'Paulinho' thread, you stick a midfield creative dynamo in the team, someone who can control the tempo of a game, and suddenly we're cooking on gas again.

The thing that worries me most is that if Sherwood does end up staying I can see most players staying. If a new manager comes in I can't see them putting up with players like Rose and Lennon. But with Tim 'English players all the way' Sherwood I just can't see them going.

Impossible now.

No need to worry.

Lennon, Chadli, Dawson, Naughton, Rose, Gomes, Sigs, Soldado, Lamela, Capoue, Friedel, Paulinho

Basically every player we bought this season apart from Eriksen

Friedel - Need a good, young keeper to replace.
Gomes - Will be going anyway, out of contract.
Dawson - Past it and isn't suited to the modern game.
Naughton - Not good enough for top half of the Premiership.
Rose - No brain. Sunderland was his level.
Lennon - Time to move on. Gone as far as he can and should be better than he is already.
Dembele - I love his ability to take the ball past players but he just does nothing with it. He really should be doing more with his skill set, it's very frustrating. I think it's become more of a hinderance to the team.
Sigurdsson - Disappointed by him as I thought he was great at Swansea. A nearly man who hasn't been able to step up to this level. A tad too slow, mentally and physically, for a top side.

Bentaleb - Needs to be loaned out. A good player, but it's too risky to allow him to gain experience at our club when we need to play more experienced player to play games at this level.

I think it's too early to get rid of the new players this summer. Let's see what another manager can do with them, see if they get the best out of them. Townsend could do with some good coaching too. The boy plays with no direction whatsoever.

how is southampton's backup right back and a player failing to make an impact in the championship going to solve anything?
