Imagine if we did all our business before the start of pre season. How fucking amazing would that be.

always been an advocate of the opinion that the value of a full pre season for a player outweighs the financial saving when buying them late
This with bells on.

I've long been bemused that we allow 4-6 games of the season to pass by while we get our business done. When you consider the fine margins of points that have such consequential impacts on a club's trajectory, it's madness. And it takes another while before they are integrated to the squad and the premier league.

I prefer the window to close before the season starts and hope that is reinstated eventually. But we need more signings of the Modric ilk, well in advance of pre season, and much less of the deadline day ilk.

Just listened to the Totally European Football Show podcast and they mentioned some interesting names that will probably move this summer.

At Lille, Jonathan David and Renato Sanches both expected to leave Lille.

Frenkie de Jong could also be sold, and at under market value. Barca are not expected to sign Adama Traore on a permanent deal either (although his stock has fallen somewhat)

£150m + CL money + player sales...could be £250m+ in the pot to spend.

I wonder if now is the time to think about Kane's long-term replacement?

Don't get me wrong, we sign Kane up to another 4 years, but we also bring in a 'wonder-kid' for the future.

Or even a proven 23 or 24 year-old.

Anyone out there that fits the bill and how much would they cost?

Even if we dropped £50m to £60m on them, we'd still have enough to do the rest of the rebuild, especially taking into account free-transfers.

I either read or heard that the $150 outlet has to be spent this year (Something to do with shares )

That makes sense, since the deal will more than likely impact the ownership percentage of other shareholders.

If there wasn't a timeframe for this investment, someone could say they were going to invest, not really do much and leave every other shareholder hanging indefinitely.

i think that's what we were thinking with vlahovic earlier this year. It's never a bad thing to have too many top tier attackers

Yeah, we were definitely looking to bring Vlahovic in as a Kane replacement (for the long-term or if Kane left last summer).

I suppose the standout players currently are Christopher Nkunku and Lautaro Martínez, who are both 24 years old (both turning 25 in the next 6 months) and who have scored plenty of goals in their respective leagues.

As for younger 'wonderkid' players, 18 years old to 23 years old, I haven't got a clue.

EDIT: The post above mentions Jonathan David...I guess he could be in this category.

the main wonderkid this year everyone wants was the CM from Monaco? Real snagged him up yesterday unfortunately ;?

Wish list:

Johnstone or Forster -HG 2nd choice keeper.
Kostic - need a quality LWB should be attainable
Bissouma- assuming no legal issues, proven premier League CM that would give us great depth with Skipp back.
RWB - not sure Spence is the answer, one area I am unsure who is realistic. Don't think Traore is either.
Eriksen - nothing else needed. Top player on a free.
Martinez - player Conte knows who can play back up or with Kane and be with us long term.

Maybe a new CB too, but I really feel wing backs is top priority as they are so key under Conte. Another quality CM and forward player is needed too.
If we get rid of Bergwijn and Moura, I do wonder if Bale would be worth a pint, or integrate Gil back into the squad. I think Gil has a lot of potential.

LCB is huge and potentially where the biggest part of the transfer budget will go. Davies has been brilliant this season since Conte came in, but bringing in a player like Bastoni is next level. A back three of Romero, Dier & Bastoni with two new flying wings backs is potentially amazing! Davies is a very good player, he would start for most teams in the Prem I believe, but he shouldn't be starting for a team with aspirations to compete for the highest honours.

He only has one year on his contract, which would make him a lot cheaper than other options, but he is 29 years old; it would be nice to spend the money on younger players who will retain their value.

Swings and roundabouts I guess.

That's a fair point. Davies has been a new player under Conte at LCB. So guess I felt it slightly lower down.

I assume 7 in is unrealistic? Or is that more possible now with the cash injection , champions League and a couple of positions that can be filled with quality free transfers.

I think cost and experience makes him a likely choice. Think it will be a balance between the 2, but with Sessegnon I get the feeling he wants to develop him as a long term prospect.

Young as well.

Those 3 could be around for the next 6+ seasons.

I always forget how young Dier is (28yrs); feels like he's been around forever.

If we wanted to sign 7 players we could; we have a large budget and there are good free transfers out there currently.

It just depends if Conte's choices are available.

Thankfully, Paratici has been brought in to do the ground-work for this summer, which is massively different from Levy dashing around Europe with a wheelbarrow full of cash at the 11th hour.

Yeah pleased Levy is less involved. Leave him in charge of overall commercials and financial stuff and leave football matters to Conte and Paratici.

Suppose if we can get decent for Lo Celso and Ndombele too, that will help.
