We are so weird. I don't think there is another team in this division (and probably the next) that looks so uncomfortable on the ball, so bereft of cohesive attacking play, that looks so shaky in defence that wins as many games and keeps as many clean sheets as we do. By rights we shouldn't be anywhere near fifth, but yet you feel we still have 200% of improvement to come.

Spurs, eh? Bloody hell.

Listened to game on BBC Radio London. First time I've listened on there, found by accident, and it was really good. Way better than TS or 5 live.
Something to remember for future.

I always used to listen to our games on BBC Radio London via the BBC Sport MBM page, but during lockdown that disappeared due to not being allowed into the stadium I assumed.

Where did you find the link to listen to it as I haven't seen it in the MBM page for ages now?

It’s unbelievable to see Davies playing at this level, he seems a completely different player since Conte arrival
Davies is a limited player, but seems to be the type that can work exactly to a managers instruction.

Good on him, he comes across as a decent guy ?

I was banished to the bedroom and found it on freeview.

With the volume of games and injuries. Squad needs to be used and just hope we still up there come Jan before we can add some needed quality

Strange Doherty looked better playing in the position he did so well in at Wolves rather than a rb in a back 4 isn't it?
Oh wait, no its not. Who knew?
Wish we stop buying players and asking them to do different shit to what they're good at.
Davies looking so much better as well.
Playmaker in midfield and we'll be a different prospect.
Doherty looked shit lots of times we played 5 at the back.

Today was a solid game by him, hopefully he can finally build on that.
Certainly more suited to the task than Japh.

The goals conceded stat is actually incredible given how shaky we were before.
There is only Brighton, Wolves, and the top three who have conceded fewer goals than us, which as you say, is pretty incredible given that probably a majority of us would sell most of our defence at the first opportunity.

Doherty did well when he came on for a struggling Tanganga.
Yep. It wasn't much of a surprise that Doherty was more suited to the RWB role than Tanganga. He certainly helped the team shape when he came on and also had a good half hour.

Yeah its weird. I post the other day are we actually better than we think we are? Is it because we're fans we view it differently? That said the stats prove we were shit.
I think its more likely that, like Man U at their worst, we still have 2 world class players (one who ist at the races lately) at the pointy end and a world class keeper (well, very very good anyway) at the other end that covers up a multitude of sins. Everything in between is ordinary.

Didn’t watch the game, but it sounds like the score line was a little flattering and a better team could have punished at at times.

It’s clear Conte has stabilised things and I’m sure performances will slowly improve.

However, worth bearing in mind the 4 league games we’ve played under him have all been against struggling sides, with 3 of them at home.

Let’s see where we are after Brighton and Leicester away before we can safely say we’ve turned a corner.

Yep, I can't work it out. The thing is though, that one of our two 'world class' forwards doesn't look like he could hit a cows arse with a banjo ATM, and the other doesn't tend to get involved in too much build up play.

We've got four wing backs, only one of which looks like he's really understanding the position, and he went off injured. And two holding DCMs who work hard but have little involvement at the sharp end of the pitch. Yet somehow the ball is sucked into the net. Bizarre!

That maybe true but look at west ham apart from rice no one is outstanding but good management and organisational structure has them in the shake up for fourth.
If we do bring in a couple during January and continue to improve under Conte we could find ourselves doing better than we thought.

Only conceded 1 goal in the league under Conte so far too, happy days
Who’d have thought that!?

Especially v Everton/Leeds/Brentford & Norwich, who, let’s face it cannot hit a fucking barn door…

Let’s hope we can get 2/3 in when the window opens. The squad is crying out for some fresh legs & new ideas

Struggled with streams today so didn't see a lot of it

What I did see though is a team mostly in second or third gear. Not sure if it'd a confidence thing or by design to preserve energy but it's getting g the job done.

We really need Kane to hit form. Once he does then we will start flying through games.

It’s simple. None of the players is anything like as bad as the fans think. Most of them are really very good and a few are top class. But they all need good management and a proper fitness programme and they’ve had neither for two years.

It’s a team game. If the team is malfunctioning, the individual players will look much worse than they are.

I’ve never gone along with the “whole squad needs an overhaul” script on here. Conte will show you why. It’s a team game.
