I’ll never forget this, though. What a fun month+ it’s been. These players gave everything they had and in the end, perhaps a little more investment might have made the difference. We’ve got a great foundation and now it’s time to kick on and make the step up. COYS!
It has been fun- that’s a good way of looking at it

The way Liverpool approached the final versus the way we did, the build up, training
People are missing the point about the penalty Sissiko's arm wasn't in an unnatural position it was outstretched giving instructions, he didn't move towards the ball and it didn't hit his arm accidentally and Sadio Mane didn't try to cross the ball he took deliberate aim at Sissoko's arm knowing that if he hit it he'd get a penalty irrespective of anything else because that is the law now and that is exactly what people said would happen and make no mistake it will become a feature of the game and in a few years they will start to question the rule.

This is one of the best posts on the subject. The refs need to look at what Sissoko was doing in pointing to his teammate. Should not be a hand ball and this rule will cause problems next season. I though Sane was looking to play to his arm.

Sad in a lot of ways.

Sad that we put up that type of performance in the biggest game in history of club.

Sad that we may have seen the last game Eriksen will play for us.

Sad that there is a good chance we won't get back here for a long time (just so many lucky breaks and bounces were needed this year).

So much luck is involved in a run like this. It was an amazing journey. Going to be very hard to do it again. Hopefully we can pull a Liverpool and get back next year and win it. Somehow though I dont expect that to happen.

I cant feel that low. We didn't come into this game with form but we weren't outplayed. Eriksen hasn't showed for 3 months and didn't really sell himself to anyone tonight so I'm not really sure I'm bothered what happens to him, I would just like a replacement that has some consistency. I think we are setting ourselves up with the potential for more of these nights.

We will get a refresh, I hope the stupid boring moaning about buying no-one goes away this summer.

It's only boring because it has gone on so long.
Not sure how long you've been subjected to transfer windows but I've been through plenty and you become numb to the buying/selling strategy of Levy. How anyone in the club can claim that for two windows there wasn't a single player in world football that could improve out squad is just plainly adsurd. We nearly paid the price with CL qualification after our season and squad fell part after Christmas - that shows inept management in my book.

Proud of our run to the final, Christ Liverpool were there for the taking... what a wasted opportunity. Gonna hurt for a while but let’s get some quality signings in in the summer and go up another level. Gutted (but proud).

Liverpool lost the final last year and invested a hell of a lot to make sure they won if it happened again. We need to do the same.
I think they were fucking fortunate they had such an early morale-boosting lead.

It could have been very different if we are still 0-0 at halftime.

So.... expect a lot of transfer activity now. ITKs have been holding news back until after the result but things are going to start moving now. Onwards and upwards.
Let’s hope it’s positive ITK

Why is sissoko so god damn stupid. Sigh. Kill our game plan totally. Everytime before a must win we joke hahaaha who knows we might just concede a stupid goal early just to laugh at ourselves. But deep down we know we say it just so that we be proven wrong, yet it happens every fucking god damn time. Why are we just so fucking spursy

So, walking away from the pub after full time. Have my 15 year old with me ... he is as down as me. Then four pool supporters walk up and take the piss. Would you a) deck the biggest fucker of them all or b) just walk away and comfort your kid. Answers on a post card.

Penalty made it easy for them, they learnt their lesson from last year.

Fucked if I should sit here and feel anything other than disappointment at this result though. Three times we've played them this year and for the most part they have come away with a result when they didn't deserve it.

That word 'mentality' pisses me off in sport, luck plays just as much into it, fucked if we got any tonight.

Spursy doesn’t come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in a champions semi final

Disappointing result with both teams putting in a poor performance.

Honestly believe Poch and the whole club will learn a lot from this, just like Liverpool did last season.

I still have faith that this club is on the verge of something special.

So we did half of the job.

We neuralised Liverpool's attack, limiting them - with the exception of Milner's near miss - to half-chances. We controlled possession. But the early penalty, which ended Liverpool's ambition, effectively fucked up the game. They could just sit deep, hold their shape and challenge us to break them down. Sadly, we weren't up to it.

Too often when Winks and Sissoko had the ball there were no options ahead of them. It's difficult to create space against a packed seven-man defence but we seemed to lack the movement to give them something to think about. Kane, Son, Alli and Eriksen were all pushed on, with nobody finding space in front of their back line to receive a pass. On the few occasions when there was a pass on, the recipient's first touch was poor or there wasn't support when he received it and looked up.

I won't criticise the team selection or the tactics. I won't criticise the effort of the players. I'm sure most, if not all, of the players have been described as 'shit' in this thread, but they weren't. Nobody 'fucked up'; nobody let the team down. They gave it everything - all season - and just came up short. They didn't bottle it, they fought until the end and we can be immensely proud of the achievement in coming so close.
