Good, but I remember what Millwall did to the last promising right back we sent them: when Phil Ifil came back to us he treated the ball like it was a grenade with a lit fuse. From having been one of the best prospects of his generation he ended up playing non-league football.

Agreed but hopefully Holloway is better with the youngsters

That's good for him. Our kids seem to get good game time at Millwall.

Didn't we loan Smith to them?

Didn't we loan Smith to them?

Last season, first half until Christmas Smith was always in the team , then after Christmas Smith was dropped onto the bench all the time, without any real understanding of Millwall fans. Different manager of course

I'm guessing a 433 :

Miles;
A McQueen, Ball, Gallifuoco, Stewart;
Lameiras, McEneff, Veljkovic;
McEvoy, Coulibaly, Ward

Veljkovic and Gallifuoco could change places - both plat CB and CM

Lameiras is likely to support the forwards with McEneff and Veljkovic protecting the back 4.

Its a fairly young u21 side, and not much on the bench - Michael-Percil, Walkes and D Mcqueen (not even a reserve goalkeeper !)

Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial Quiet first 20 minutes at Stoke, McEneff closest with a 20-yarder that flew just over. 0-0.

Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial Woodwork! Closest yet, Coulibaly and Ward won possession, Ward shot from edge of box struck the crossbar. 0-0, 30 mins.

When Fredericks missed out o our last U21 game it occurred to me he might be being set up with a loan. So I wonder if anything can be read into today’s absences? I cannot see Kane or Fryers being loaned out unless someone is being brought in, but Smith and Archer are notable absentees.

Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial HT at Stoke in the Barclays U21 PL and it's 0-0, we've dominated possession in a game of few chances, Ward closest when he hit the bar.

Ray Lo ‏@RayLo18 Half-time at Stoke 0-0. Sides bogged down in midfield.

Agreed, but I was hoping that Smith would get game time at Spurs or possibly get a PL loan - no point in going out on loan to a Championship side as he's had 2 loans at that level (or 3 including a short one at Leeds)

Where's Dombaxe these days? Not heard much from him after a pretty good showing last year.

Who's the next one to step up to the first team ?

Almost certainly Veljkovic - he's already been on the bench a number of times under Tim.

Stewart may get a few senior games too.

None of the others in today's squad are close to making the step up IMO.

Several have appeared in the first team and are on the fringes of the squad including Kane, Fryers, Bentaleb, Fredericks and arguably Smith (appeared in HR's last game), but of the others Milos Veljkovic is a likely one, although young, because he plays as a CB where Spurs first team are sort, with a similar argument for Kevin Stewart. Jordan Archer may well be on the bench in Europa League, but unlikely to appear IMO.

Played in the u19 competition in Vietnam a week or two ago, think his best season was 2 seasons ago playing NextGen with Luongo as the 2 in a 4231.

Could find it difficult to get minutes with Bentaleb in front of him - slightly different position but too similar so they will be in competition

Apparently Steffan Freund and Paul Brush have taken over the U21's now

Depends a lot on where there's an opening as well.
You'd not think that Coulibaly is anywhere near the first team,
but then Defoe leave while others in front of Coulibaly are out on loan,
one injury to a striker and you never know.

Generally agree with the rest though that Veljkovic seem like the next in line.
Adam Smith another if you still count him as a youngster, he's same age as Townsend
