Only way this is happening is if Jose leaves IMO
Kane's injury doesn't exactly help, but when I predicted our front 3 scoring circa 80 goals this season I certainly wasn;t expecting Bale to be such a peripheral player.

He has 5 league goals in about 600 minutes (and many of these minutes were short sub appearances).. had he been called upon more often in recent weeks he would have almost certainly added to that tally.

What did we create yesterday that wasn't a ball that fortunately pinballed to the ever clinical Kane? I'm struggling to think of even one chance.

We are a team devoid of ideas going forward while always prone to leaking a few in at the back no matter the opposition. The fact that Jose has categorically decided that Bale cannot contribute to this team means he should have been sacked weeks ago.

Delayed reply, but:
I comletely agree that (even before today) Bale's goal output has been decent. I just mean I would have been less ambitious with my prediction of how many goals Kane, Bale & Son would score if I'd known the three of them wouldn't be starting most matches together.

Interesting how close to Bruno Fernandes' stats Son is, but it doesn't really ever get discussed

(of course far less shots, and far less penalties)

30% fewer shots, 8 fewer penalties, 65 minutes less playing time.

Exactly half of Fernandes' 16 goals are from penalties. Only 1 of Son's was a penalty.

Son is only two years older, but has scored 45 more goals overall. This is despite Fernandes scoring 40 penalties compared to Son's 5 (Fernandes has taken 50% more penalties for Man Utd this season than Son has taken in his entire career [club & country combined]). The stats leave no question about who the more prolific goalscorer is.

Son has also been overshadowed in the media by Mane in recent years, even when he is outperforming him. If he put in identical performances for one of the "big clubs", he'd regularly be in the PL, UEFA and FIFA teams of the year.

If you deduct penalty goals:
1. Kane - 17 goals
2. Son - 15 goals
3. Salah - 14 goals
4. Fernandes - 8 goals

I'm not sure if Fernandes would even be in the top 10 PL scorers for non-penalty goals.

Edit: Calvert-Lewin would be joint 2nd on 15 goals and Bamford would be joint 4th on 14 goals.

It's quite astonishing, with the amount of goals and assists that Son and Kane have, we haven't managed to make an impact in the league.
