I can see Harry playing one of two line ups on sunday, i won't include the back 5, but which formation would you go for?

a; 4-2-3-1 with sandro/ parker.....bale/luka/vdv...ade
or
b; 4-5-1 with bale/luka/parker/vdv/azza.....ade

I know formation a done so well at the bridge, but this is different, we don't need a draw, and they will be without their two first choice full backs, i personally would go for formation b. Do you agree?

that fact they are without definitely ivanovic is big blow. he is dangerous at set pieces so thats good.. if cole is out as well i wud be so tempted to play lennon but we have to bare in mind its a huge and probaly heavy pitch on the legs so im not sure lennon wud be up for it considering his injury record this year. might be sfaer to keep him as impact sub maybe?

Am I crazy to think 4231 with:

Sandro Parker
Lennon VDV Bale
Ade
Resting Luka? Hmm, he just looks beaten to me, tired and his head has dropped. He is still effective of course and still makes us tick in games but I think with Chelsea's full back issues this might be a game to give him a rest and utilise pace. It's not like VDV is short in the playmaking department.

Sandro should be nowhere near our starting eleven. He makes too many mistakes. He, along with Parker has had no goalsoring input and is pretty clueless in the final third. I think that his chief role in our side would be the person who literally marked man for man...a bit like what he did with Joe Allen recently. Do / will we need that on Sunday?....I don't think so.
A big part of our problem recently has been that our preferred formations have left us holding the ball but lacking attacking purpose. Barcelona can play in front of sides all day and frequently do.....when we try it our possession stats go up but our effectiveness falls. Lennon and Bale are the way to go ....we just need the attacking intent. The previous Chelsea performance, which many have lauded, turned out to be just another missed opportunity for three points gone. In the 4 5 1, or sub set version we go with, we need to be able to go both left and right. I'd go
..........Parker Modric
Lennon ......VDV.......Bale
..................Ade

Sandro made mistakes against Sunderland but it hasn't generally been something regular in his game. He was miscontrolling simple balls to him and had an absolute 'mare of a game but he still defended pretty well. When he was a regular in the team at the back-end of last year he was consistently our best performer, so it is a bit of a stretch to say he should be nowhere near our starting XI even if he is lacking fitness and form. I am pretty certain that a lot of the off the ball runs that were causing havoc to our defence against Norwich wouldn't have happened and our defence wouldn't have been anywhere near exposed. I think the horrific mistakes he made in that game against Sunderland have really affected the way people are looking at him.

The way things are stacking up in the CB position, Sandro may be called in for a shift there.

At present - exactly how I would set us up

If Kaboul is injured and we have to play 2 of King, Gallas and Nelsen then I think definitely the extra protection of Sandro and Parker in midfield will be needed though I have been worried about Sandro in recent games. If Kaboul is fit though I think I'd go with Luka in the middle. Either way I'd like to see Lennon start. With them having to play second choice full backs it would be good to have Lennon and Bale running at them from the off, and at least one of their FBs can pick up an early yellow card

I'd certainly start with Sandro. Lennon is an ideal option to come off the bench for the latter part of the game if we need to move up a gear (remember this could go 120mins).

This is a game we actually need to win to progress. Sandro and Parker offer little going forward. Nelsen hasn't put a foot wrong so far and has been one of our better form players, after Kaboul, in the past few months. Any two of Gallas Nelsen or Kaboul will be fine. We need to liven up in and around the box. Lennon and Bale can provide the bullets....Ade needs to step up and get on the end of the chances. Hoping the first time thrill of Wembley will inspire VDV'S ego to do it for us.....

It's certainly something which needs to be considered. I absolutely love Luka as a player, but for one reason or another his performances lately haven't been up to the high standards he has set himself. Lennon, Bale and VDV will have enough creativity to hurt Chelsea, it'll just be a question of whether or not Parker and Sandro can get the ball to them as quickly and accurately as Modric does.

Sandro is class, people need to remember he's had a very stop-start season so needs to get back into his groove with a run of games.

For me, I like a flexible 4-4-1-1 / 4-5-1 / 4-2-3-1 and in this system we need two pacey widemen so Lennon and Bale should both play. We should play the players that allow us to switch between these systems with relative ease.

It's then a case of picking the middle three from Sandro, Parker, VDV and Modric.

A tough decision, but Harry is paid to do this and should be picking who is on form / better suited to the system rather than trying to cram all the pretty players in leaving us no backbone.

Parker Modric
Lennon VDV Bale
Adebayor

Subs: Cudicini King/Nelson Rose Sandro Livermore/Kranjcar Saha Defoe

I agree that Sandro is very good at putting out fires, but i would like him to be abit more comfortable on the ball, that lets him down imo, and if he gets that right he will be a really top player, untill then i can't see how some are calling him class, potentially he may be, but not there yet.

Two of Sandro/Parker/Livermore should start every game for me.

The decision is then Lennon or VdV.
