Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

Glad me and my boy left just after Son got red carded! What did we miss? Anyway had 4DX tickets to see Star Wars at around 7pm so that's our excuse for bailing out early :)
Seriously though I despise racists in our society, whenever I come across one (and I have encountered a fair few since the 80s) there's no other option but to confront them. Nothing has changed racism is as bad as it was back then.

I am saying racism exists in football and we should root it out. And you are arguing with that. What the fuck??? Get a grip and work out what side of the fence you are on.

The undertone to so many posts here is that Rudiger must be mistaken and/or is lying. I do not accept that until it is found otherwise. The allegation has been made and Rudiger has offered his witness evidence. We have HIS evidence and the evidence that we all know that it is more than plausible, more than likely, in fact, inevitable that it happens in our ground. Unless the club comes out and says it simply didn't happen, we need to tackle this.

Why are you quibbling with that?
What is controversial there?
Why do you not just want to stamp out racism at Spurs???

If you think I'm arguing against the fact that racism doesn't exist in football then you're either not reading my posts properly or you're just completely dense, sorry to say I've made my stance as clear as mud and you're talking about what side of the fence I'm off, ffs listen to yourself.

I don't care what the undertone is on here you are addressing me, if you're putting me in the same boat as those who think Rudiger is lying then you're wrong. The narrative I'm taking is that we don't know what he may have heard, I'm not saying he's lying I'm saying that he may have been mistaken. Heat of the moment, high adrnelin, 60k fans some booing...it's not exactly against the realms of possibility that he may have thought heard something racial, it's just as plausible as his case so why are you so desperate to rule out one and not the other?

Like I said the real issue we need to look into is the covert racism that exists in football and society, racism that affects POC that is hard to prove, I'm not getting into it as it's a separate issue and opens up an entirely new can of worms but there's certain people who will know what I'm talking about.

The rest of your questions are irrelevant because if you've read and understood my stance you wouldn't have asked them in the first place.

Could this be as a result of: who, who , who lets the yids out? Could sound like a monkey chant?

Today there was a bloke few rows behind me who rarely managed a sentence without using the C word . It was like siting in front of Derek and Clive but probably a little bit worse . Now Im home I feel a bit guilty about not sounding him out it was actually disgusting and Im far from a saint

I have absolutely no problem with the C word being used at a football match. Probably because I use it a lot myself!

I put it down to being in the moment and the love and passion I have for my football club

I’ve been going since 1974 and it was the same back then when I was a little kid

Maybe my generation are dinosaurs and eventually football grounds will become libraries

The thought of people shouting out 'Oh come off it Ref old chap, that was a blatant foul on our best player...

Mind you it won’t be too long before the only people who can afford to go will be Jacob Rees Moggs of this world!

That's kind of how it was at football matches before the hooligan element entered the game in the 70s. That's what my Grandad tells me anyway.

I blame Leeds Utd for all of this.

BBC reporting that the government is prepared to take action over racism in football.

Now I don't have a problem with governments taking action in these circumstances but does the irony of this escape anybody? I can just see words flashing in front of my eyes, words like Pot and Kettle and Black and hypocracy and Good God almighty have they no fucking shame?
Some good words in it from Jan Vertonghen as well.

On the replays, Rudiger himself is pointing at the crowd, mimicking the monkey arms gesture, and then tapping his temple to indicate he's seen it.

There's every chance some twat got carried away and did make that gesture. We were all pretty incensed by his play acting, and then slamming Dele(or was it Verts) in the face, which went unpunished.

I saw that as him pointing at his ear to say he heard it

In his post-match interview, Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta said: "It is made very clear to us all if we have heard any racist incident to report it.

"Toni came to me and he told me he was listening in the crowd [to] monkey noises and my job as a captain is to go straight to the referee and to report it.

did he hear who who let the yids out?

I get carried away at football and that moment yesterday was no different. I might call Rudiger a **** 20 times in the spur of the moment but it wouldn’t go any further than that, nor should it

People’s worst traits and deep feelings bubble to the surface in these such moments. They need to be weeded out and educated, if possible!

Is anyone corroborating the accusation?
There’s a guy on Twitter (JohnHall1985) says he was in block 251 and tweeted he heard monkey chants.

That’s the only person I’ve seen saying they heard it, but I guess there could be others. It certainly couldn’t be heard in 252.

I posted early in this thread that I hope they come up with some evidence or corroberation otherwise this is going to open a can of worms for him. we've seen this go viral and yet there's still nothing and I'm sure the media will have been all over every inch of video coverage.
I'll say it again, I hope the investigation uncovers something because if they have all the footage and find nothing and with nobody coming forward to corroberate it is going to reflect badly on him with the result that people will question all instances in the future.

In all seriousness though, if that chant (who, who, who let the yids out) was sung at that point, then that would be the most likely explanation that Rudiger mistook the ‘who’ for monkey chants (if it’s proven that there were no obvious signs of anyone being racist).

Racism is inexcusable. Also inexcusable are some of the ‘guilty until proven innocent’ comments. Not one witness or media source has provided evidence at this point, yet some of you have already made your mind up that it’s happened and we’re scum. Thankfully most of us are taking the common sense approach of ‘IF this happened then that person is a **** and should be banned for life’.

With that said, even if nothing is proven on the racist front, we should still be ashamed of the amount of objects thrown onto the pitch yesterday. We’ll get rightfully punished for that and that will also be social media’s ‘get out clause’ - ‘well you might not be racist but you’re a bunch of thugs who chuck shit at players’. And we’ll have no comeback to that.

Shit day all round. Hope this is cleared up ASAP either way. If they’ve caught someone, name and shame, ban him for life. If there’s no evidence whatsoever, make a very clear statement that completely exonerates us and move on.

The rush to judgement is really depressing to me. Mainstream news outlets and commentators lining up to shame the racist behaviour of our fans, with not a shred of evidence that any racist abuse actually occurred in sight.
