Really positive showing from him today. Energetic and showed some good passing range (several cross field balls) and also moved up the field effortlessly. Not to mention outmuscled the Juve players with ease, Hernanes looked stunned after wanyama stole the ball from him and assisted Lamela :LOL:. Really happy we got him, looks like the type of player that will offer our more creative players the freedom to excel.

Better than I thought, showed for the ball constantly.
composed and very supportive of the youngsters around him.
Will have time to make his mark, figuratively speaking,
while Dembele is out.

With Dembele suspended he will almost certainly start alongside Dier in the first game of the season.

Wanyama against Juve. I always like him and he is looking good for us.

My apology did not link the video properly earlier.

Wanyama is a very good midfielder. Glad we signed him for such a comparatively low fee.

Not looking forward to this tbh, unless we turn dier in to the attacking mid :ROFLMAO:
It certainly gives us defensive solidity through the middle of the park and perhaps may give an even greater licence to our full backs to play further up the pitch in the knowledge that there are two proper DM's to give them more cover,

With the improvement in Dier's passing game I don't think it's too bad in a transitional sense, although I fully expect to see Eriksen dropping deeper on a more regular basis, similar to the end of last season, to begin our attacking moves.

I don't understand why people are so fearful of the Dier/Wanyama partnership from an attacking sense, we played Dier/Dembele partnership last season and it's not as if either player is a creative force, I mean Dembele was able to carry the ball up the pitch yes but he rarely managed to thread a pass to the forwards when he was in the final 3rd. I think Dier's game is now transforming to that of a player who likes to start attacks and recycle's the ball and we are now seeing him starting to become that play maker and probe defences, also as @glospur rightly said Eriksen was dropping deeper and initiating attacks especially against teams who parked the ball so I don't think we will have a problem with creativity if they played with each other.

Can't Onomah play in Dembele's position along with Dier during Mousa's suspension?

I'd rather Dier and Wanyama didn't start together in midfield.

Dier - Wanyama playing together means

Fullbacks get to bomb up the field more often,
The likes of Alli, Eriksen, Lamela can take more attacking risks knowing that they are covered.
Dier can actually pick a pass and having Wanyama alongside can help him dictate play and utilize his skillset.
