Bergwijn never should’ve played today, given how he clearly hadn’t recovered from his previous injury. Terrible decision.

Mourinho didn't trust in sport science but maybe our staff isn't good anyway, can't rush players from injuries.

Wouldn’t have mattered if he'd been recovered from his injury for a year if someone tackles you like that they will damage you, nothing to do with being rushed back if someone sets out to hurt you.

Indeed. It's a shame the same old moaners that are ruining countless other threads are blaming Nuno for Bergwijn getting kicked.

And on that the ref was really weak in that regard. I have a feeling the refs will be shocking all throughout this tournament.

Its a shame about the injury, however saying that its not a massive or consequential loss in the grand scheme of things, he was never gonna set the world on fire v the chavs, anyway if Son is back really not that bothered.... gives him time to heal atleast.

Really losing patience with this guy, he never ever looks like scoring so he really won't be missed on Sunday. Time to cut our losses at the end of the season and send him back to Holland.

You guys are such a tough crowd! The poor lad (still only 23) having an injury setback through no fault of his own and you're saying never mind as he won't be missed on Sunday. Why are some people so quick to dismiss and disparage our players?

Worth remembering that in the few goals he has scored for us, one was a wonder volley on his debut against City, another was a dynamic bursting run and smash against United. He can score big goals against big teams, and when he's not scoring he works hard. It's a pity he's not available to play a part this weekend.

That sucks, opportunity for Gil, maybe Clarke, Sessegnon, Markanday to get more minutes.

He is so unlucky with injuries. Maybe the league is too physical for him. He can't catch a break and when he does get back to fitness, he'll take several games to get back up to speed.

He doesn’t do anything does he? It was a decision between buying him or Bowen and I think we made the wrong one. At least with Bowen hes HG.

In everything he does (and it is not much) he looks more like a Championship player than a top six player.

I still think there is a player in there somewhere but it's just not happening for him at the moment. I wonder if a loan elsewhere to play every week might help.

Can’t afford to loan him. He needs selling. You can’t train making correct decisions or having a footballing brain. He does and has neither.
