A bit like Royal he is a full back and if our system demanded full backs they would both be very good. However it doesn’t and therefore we need to move them on for the good of the club (as they can’t play the position we require) and them (decent lads with a high ceiling in their best positions).

No more thinking people will grow into roles they aren’t suited too.

In terms of the Sevilla link. I’m a bit sick of Spanish clubs thinking World Football should do them a favour. If they want him pay the price or take the obligation. Otherwise see you later
And Inter ?

I'm really surprised there hasn't been any obvious interest in him. He's an excellent LB and probably available for a decent price. I can only imagine we're holding on to him so Madrid don't have enough time to activate their buy back clause and flip him.

I don't think we would mind that as we would make a reasonable profit on what we owe. Thst makes it unlikely though.

I don't think there's much difference between Sess and Reguilon tbh. I think with Sess, there is hope that the knack he displayed in the Championship for sniffing out goal scoring positions will re-emerge and he will have a high output. Reguilon has never looked like a natural goal scorer, although he has got into some good positions.

Ultimately though, I think the HG status is what wins it for Sess. Perisic is our #1 LWB, he has more than the other two put together imo and we can't keep them both on the books.
I think Sess has two big positives over Reggie. One is his height and overall physique. The second is his calmness for that pass across Liverpool’s box for Son to score. Those two are why he’s on the plane.

Actually, online data says Sess and Reggie are the same height. Wow, would not have thought that.

Personally, I think he is a poor defender, a real panic merchant. He is better in the opponents half, and has a decent aerial ball into the box, but his weighted passing into the danger area is as poor as his finishing. Sess is better all round imo, and has more scope for improvement. He should learn a lot from Peresic.

I suspect we could leverage a decent deal for him. Sevilla linked this morning. Being left at home seems a pretty clear indication of where he sits within Conte’s plans. Shame, whilst he can be a bit erratic at times, I do think he brings some energy to the LWB role and finds his way into decent positions.

Do wonder if there is a trade off leaving a player behind to speed up their exit vs weakening our hand in negotiations as everyone knows we are a willing seller

Is he really an excellent LB though?

I was so excited when he first joined but he got worse and worse over time.

flatters to deceive and too many flaws in his game

He has the technical ability to be a great wing back but he's been extremely wasteful in good positions. His pace and runs off the ball are great, but he has massive brain farts and constantly made the wrong final ball. Sessegnon is much calmer in the final third.

Very little money in Spanish football at the moment. Going to be difficult to sell Reguilon or Lo Celso for their value.
Yeah when CL regulars/cup winners like Sevilla and Villareal are struggling to pay over 20m for a single signing you know there's a huge disparity in Europe.

Meanwhile in the Prem bottom half teams like Villa and Newcastle are hoovering up coveted players like Coutinho, Botman, Kamara, Douglas Costa, etc.

For him and LoCelso it could be a case, hopefully, in using them as leverage to broker other deals if teams can’t meet the valuation.

I personally think he can make a great wing back but it seems that ship has sailed, I don’t think it’s his fault, sometimes you dont get the rub of the green

He hasn’t been reliable due to him constantly struggling for fitness and constantly lacking match sharpness due to match fitness

I think he lacked the killer instinct to be honest. He seemed to have all the physical attributes but he just seemed quite cowardly when it mattered, strangely enough though Sessegnon lacks confidence at times, when it comes to that killer instinct he has shown he is capable of it.

I actually think his technique isnt great. First touch, control under pressure are all irratic.

Agree with this, technically he's quite poor. He never looks comfortable in possession, first touch isn't great, it is really easy to press and force mistakes out of him. He lacks composure etc etc

I've always liked him so it's a shame to see him being cast out like this. I think he has all the attributes to be coached into an effective LWB and with us signing Perisic I would've thought it buys more time to do this but it seems Conte is plumping for Sessegnon out of the two.

Sessegnon is a better defender than Reguilon. He also is far superior in the final third in terms of chance creation and shooting. Only problem is his glass hamstrings. Reguilon is faster and has more confidence but less output. Conte has clearly decided Reggy is not up to it otherwise he would not have bought Perisic and left Reggy out of the South Korean tour
