I think he might be quite under rated, when he is good he has everything you need in his position.

if you go on who scored and rank the right backs who have played 20+ games. He's the 3rd best in the league.

He knows what Mourinho wants, he knows the club and is willing to play for us in a dark time.

if he's not with us next season it would be a real shame. He will get better and better for us I think.

If he could cut out the silly errors then he’d be a decent right back for us.Unfortunately he’s good for conceding a chance a game. Going forward he’s very inconsistent, he can put in some really killer crosses, but more often than not it beats everyone and goes out for a throw in on the opposite side.

He’s a frustrating player, he’s got all he needs to be really good, but he rarely shows his best.

Massive respect for him for playing again today, he’s a good character around the dressing room by the looks of it and it’s nice to see the team rallying around him.

Have we ever had a right back that people haven't berated? Corluka was shit because he was slow, Walker had too many "brain farts", Trippier was suspect defensively and Aurier is all of that combined. I'm starting to think either we're cursed or people on here have no idea how hard it is to be a modern fullback who's expected to create goals and be in position defensively when the ball gets turned over.

We need to sweat some quality out of the academy

I wasn’t on any forums at the time so I can’t be 100% but I don’t recall Carr getting loads of grief (until he left obvs)

Different game back then though. Often played with a true right sided winger infront of him who would track back. These days with the use of inside forwards and the pitch becoming extremely narrow, fullbacks get no protection, I think it's why a lot of coaches tend to play with a back 5 out of position and a back 3 with the ball.

I think it’s about time we put some respect on his name!

we’ve had so many people question this guys attitude and character over they years when we signed him people called him a loose cannon a head case and trouble etc.

But he’s showing signs of maturing and Jose seems to have a grip on him and has managed to cut out some of the stuff out!

he’s also given us more than so many other players would...it takes a special kind of mindset to do what he’s done this week

Massive respect for playing again, but I really hope we upgrade the rb position next season. He should of done a lot better with the build up to Perez’s shot. Feel like every game there’s a mistake and we can’t afford to have that in our back 4.

It's ironic because we've had left backs of similar quality and I don't recall them getting as much grief. Rose (in his prime), Davies, Benny, Edman and YP Lee all spring to mind

He's just not good enough offensively to outweigh his general awful defending. Yes, sometimes he plays OK. But we need better quality in that position, in both directions.

I know stats doesn't matter that much nowadays but if I remember correctly Aurier is the 2nd best RB in the league offensively and around the same for defense with the most tackles and blocks pr. game for example. So to say he's awful in both departments is really mad - you know agenda and all.

People see what they want to see and are blind to what they don't. They also have selective memories of previous players. I'm probably the same but obviously think I'm not.

There's probably a fair amount of unconscious bias chucked in. I'm guilty of it myself when I reflect on what I criticise certain players for.

defensively he is a liability he has been dog awful most of the season - going forward he is alright but lacks a brain, to often he is charging forward when he doesn't need to be - he commits to many silly fouls and perhaps the worst thing for a full back he has almost no awareness of danger apart from that he is great -

What does that mean? 2nd best?

How many RBs around the league are allowed to join the attack as often as Aurier is?

I think he has gone from being useless to serving a purpose, but he has a long way to go before he is good.

Especially playing for a team with the ambition to at least be top 4 and potentially challenge for titles. For those teams concentration is obviously a lot more important than for teams that can afford to lose more games and still for example stay in the division.

Aurier for me would be a great fit for a smaller team playing as a wing back in a 3-5-2 or something.

That said he has improved. So I'm willing to see how far that goes. His ability to play game after game not looking tired is rather exceptional. Maybe he can do another Sissoko?

I've got this real sinking feeling that Aurier is going to be with us again for next season. I hope im wrong because I can't take another year of watching him play RB.

Ally Gold and Dan Kilpatrick have barely mentioned Aurier when talking about transfer business. Aurier has to be replaced so that relies on a club getting the 15m+ Levy wants and then him being able to coordinate a replacement which is difficult because Levy is not a fast deal maker. Plus we're already losing another right back this window in Walker-Peters so we might just end up keeping Aurier EVEN if we manage to sign a cheap option.

Dan mentioned today that Aurier can leave. And I think Alasdair said it too.

The problem is our fans' expectations of a full-back. He's nowhere near as bad as people make out - it's just that so many have absolutely no clue what they're talking about, but have their uninformed opinions consolidated in an echo chamber of like-minded know-nothings. So people think they're spot on about Aurier being this terrible player when the simple reality is that he isn't.

I hope for his own sake he moves on to a club where the fans aren't such twats to him. Whoever we sign to replace him will get the same abuse as well. Walker did, Corluka did, Carr did (just less obviously because social media didn't exist), Tripper did. Our fans are never happy, but they're particularly discerning (read twattish) when it comes to full backs.
