He is a fantastic player but the one thing he lacks that you need in this league is power.

Maddison can shift the ball into both feet and is a lighter mover. Can also hit a ball harder.

Lo Celso lacks that power which is way I think he gets injured a lot and why he does better in Spain/Argentina

Didn’t really make much of an impact, but In fairness it was wellying it down.
I’m not sure what more one could expect from a player getting his first 20 mins of a season. Moved the ball around well, grew into the game and got some competitive mins under his belt. Good to see him on the pitch.

Yeah I think there’s more to come from him, and he got into some good positions without things quite coming off for him.

Rusty or one-paced? Discuss.
Needs minutes: hopefully vs Fulham in midweek. There’s a player there and he just needs to form partnerships with the midfield. Also, looking at out midfield there’s such depth now: Sarr, Biss, Madders (best midfield 3 in the Prem) and Bentancur to return is mouthwatering. I hope this pushes him and also as he missed out being a world champion with Argentina. Cautiously optimistic with Lo Celso but if he stays fit he would be more than handy for us.

I thought he looked nervous but grew into the game .

He's a really good player but I have a hunch that he could be off this week as he is very much someone we could get money on and replaced by Hatate as he apparently has turned down a new contract and doesn't seem to be first choice up there anymore.

Really hope he stays and think he will.

If he does go then Hatate would be a very capable replacement.

If we can get a good fee for him - or player swap, I'd be OK with him going.

This week Ange commented that he was not always looking for like-for-like replacements for players - that he preferred for players who could bring a different dimension to a position to still play within the same philosophy, but with a slightly different angle. And, then, watching Sarr thread the pass today for Madders goal, and its not hard to see a CM paring of Bentancur and Sarr (sitting in front of Bissouma) - if Maddison were to miss time.

As it is, when Bentancur gets back, it will be difficult for Lo Celso to get any non-cup minutes unless Maddison is injured. And, if nobody will stump up for Hojbjerg, then we would keep him as a 5th CM (and Skipp). So, if we can do a good deal for Lo Celso, then it probably makes sense to move him now (as opposed to selling Hojbjerg on the cheap).

I know it looks like he wants to stay but I can’t blame him if he wants to go because Barca are after him and he’s seen as a bit part player for us.

But as a makeweight for player with serious injury concerns, It's a very favourable deal for Barca more risk for us. Hard no from me.

After today's meeting between Gio Lo Celso's entourage and Tottenham, the Argentine is likely to stay in London.

Tottenham have reiterated the idea that he will not leave on loan.

He would only leave on a transfer.

Lo Celso is different to any of the others though

Also worth noting that Napoli, one of the teams linked that may have actually considered buying him, have just finalised Jesper Lindstrøm so that’s them out of the race. Seems the only other team would likely be Barca and they would want a loan.
