The lads an 8, not a 10. But I still pick him ahead of Tanguy in either.

He is both, he can play either role but when he is number 8 it has to be as the third midfielder in a midfield 3 to get the best of him.

Personally though I want him at number 10 for a proper run of games, with the likes of Son, Kane and I'd really like to see Gil on the right, as I feel him and Gio would have a fantastic understanding. I honestly think Gio can produce if he gets a proper fixed run in that position without constantly being moved around to DM, RAM etc.

Nah, I think he get's a bit lost as a 10. He's definitely more comfortable right in the centre of the pitch, carrying and linking the ball.

I agree about being in a 3. The 4-3-3 itself is not flawed, just the personnel. You have to do it properly, with a deep lying 6 (Skipp), two hard working 8's (PEH and Gio), and a false 9 to drop (Kane).

His shooting most of the time is pathetic , the miss after the back heel by Kane was incredible cos it wasn’t even on target and had zero conviction. Yes he scored a nice goal against Mura but a no.10 needs to be chipping in with 8-10 goals a season and this fella isn’t likely to get you that . If he cost £10m from Watford you would happily write the money off and give him away .
Pretty sure it was on target and cleared off the line?

2 assists vs Uruguay, very good chemistry with Messi and Lautaro Martinez. He can be so good in the right system surrounded by players that make good runs. Also when he can get some form by not getting injured and stopping his progress. Worst case he will have good re-save value because of his Argentina games. Doesn't even play in his best position there. Should have scored here though (didn't want to shoot with his right foot).
P.S Rodrigo de Paul is really good.

Add in 6 key passes and 4 ground duels and completed the full 90 minutes. Needs to be playing for us and not out on the right wing with three defensive CMs. Keep the faith this guy is quality.

His performances for Argentina can’t just be a fluke they are consistently good. There’s definitely a player in there that can be of use to us just need to find best way to get that going for us. Currently all round showing more than Ndombele in terms of giving more time to.

Bang on. Said this all along he's a real player just needs to be played in his actual position and get a run of games in the team to get his rhythm and confidence.

I don’t think it’s much more complicated than getting him out on the pitch playing and not as a wide right part of a front three or for a 15 minute cameo having suffered through watching Dele and Ndombele starting and generally disappointing.

He showed in ECL and when he came on against Villa, it should be him in the mid. But alas he won't be available against Toon and the selection carousel continues

Not scoring from this position is shocking. He has absolutely zero confidence in his right foot.

Yes he should have scored but he still got man of the match tho and was extremely good.
Agreed, was just making an observation.

For country he consistently shown that he is a very good player. I'm disappointed we haven't been able to get his Argentina-form out of him for club since the 2019/2020 season when he was running games for us. He needs to get a consistent run of games as the number 10 in our 4-2-3-1 with the ability to roam and create.

The difference in the movement from his teammates at International level and our team is the biggest difference gives him so mny more options to find a teammate and move the ball quickly. Its embarrassing that teams who train together once a month have better movement and chemistry than us we are so static off the ball apart from Son and Reguilon especially in the middle of the pitch.

To whoever made this cut up… why would you not show the assists?
Ok, I now know why they didn't include them... To call these assists is quite a stretch.

I'm not sure that is a perfectly fair statement. This Summer at the Copa he was pretty hit or miss, often being Argentina's first sub.

Actually the only game he started that he wasn't the first player subbed off was in the final against Brazil and he was still subbed off after 63 minutes.

I watched a few of those games and he wasn't all that impressive.
