I'm not saying that we should just spend whatever, but Fernandes is going to be no cheaper than lo Celso, and half the reason we never get these sort of signings over the line is because we aren't willing to go the extra mile and pay what's required as compared to other clubs. I'd love for us to just go for it instead of switching targets. However, as stated, that's Portuguese media, which is notoriously shit.

I know Fernandes has been linked to the Manchester clubs, but I do get an uneasy feeling about him, mainly based on how bad he often looks for Portugal. I get the feeling he could be one of those high profile flops.

Lo Celso just looks like the perfect Poch player to me, and our ITKs have mentioned we the club hierarchy really rates him.

We make a bid they say no so we walk away, I mean do these papers really expect people to believe this? It's bollocks.

Agreed, we know there's a release clause and I can understand why we bid lower but you have to think we would be willing to meet it, otherwise what's the point of bidding in the first place.

I can't see Fernandes being much cheaper.

Don't be fooled by the BS. We are not suddenly going to switch targets from Lo Celso.

If we've gone in with £53m and they want £80m it really doesn't surprise me to see us drum up interest somewhere else, be it to negotiate with Betis better or because the price difference was simply too vast.

We can't be spending £80m on a player who doesn't even start for his national team. Not a chance

Saw Fernandes live end of last year and he did not stand out. This was against the team who were bottom of the league at the time.

Lo Celso is far the better option for what we need.

1 report I saw, was UTD bid €70m with €10m in add ons for Fernandes, our bid was €2m less. Honestly I think I'd prefer to go all out for Lo Celso, he's younger and had a great season in a better league and seems very highly rated.

I watched him when we were linked to him last year and thought he looked bang average. Was surprised to hear he'd had an amazing season with lots of European experts waxing lyrical about him. I haven't seen enough to truly judge but he definitely doesn't excite me half as much as Lo Celso...

who I've only seen Youtube videos of :/

If Pochettino is talking about a new project and we are about to get c£100m for Eriksen and Alderweireld, plus anything else in from sales that could include Trippier, Wanyama, Rose, Davies, Dier, Lamela, Onomah, Carter-Vickers etc (not all of them obviously but these guys have question marks over their names), I wonder what the kitty is or will be for players in.

I'd prefer Lo Celso but £80m is mental money for a guy PSG flogged for £20m a month or two ago.

You're also not taking into account our CL run, record profits, PL cash from this season and not spending for 2 windows, i don't think we will, but I think we could spend close to 200m without having to worry about selling.

We do need to do what Pool did, we have glaringly obvious weaknesses in the first 11.

You are also forgetting that we have a debt of £638m plus to pay off.

Does that have to be paid off all at once? It's manageable debt, I know we're not at UTD'S level but they've been carrying that amount of debt since the Glazer's took over and are only servicing the interest.
