I actually wonder if we're actually considering signing Bale as a striker and that's why we haven't made any major moves for any other strikers yet.

Even if he doesn't play as a striker signing him allows us more flexibility to move Son central and still have Bale/Bergwijn/Moura wide so we're not significantly weakened.
I’ve thought that. To my mind, Bale and a striker almost seems excessively be (not that I’d complain) whereas Bale only means him, Kane and Son could all start and if Kane doesn’t play, either I’d the other two could go down the middle with one of Lamela, Bergwijn or Lucas coming in,

Or... conversations have been going on for a couple of weeks and leaks gradually increase. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.

Bale coming back to the prem would be the biggest transfer story in years. The press speculate about him every summer and talk up his move back. Yet while talks have been ongoing not a whisper and now when the fans are in meltdown its now being peddled out everywhere in the media.

It’s clear he’s coming home.
Quite frankly all you doubters are going to look darned silly when it happens.
I hope every single one of you comes back and apologises to the believers.

Not having a pop mate, but I think it would help if people occasionally take a step back from everything and not fall into this way of thinking.

Not everything is a conspiracy or has an ulterior motive or part of a dick dastardly master plan. It would make supporting spurs or enjoying football a lot easier.

Bale will always be linked to us. Madrid hasn’t worked out for him for a couple of years, the icon he is and his history with the club will always mean he will be linked with us. Just like links with Sheringham and to some extent modric always remained. Madrid will always offer him to us because of that. This isn’t some PR stunt. His name has been linked with us for the last week and we know talks have been ongoing.

My point is there has been little media coverage the last few weeks all the while we have been informed talks were on going. Now the fan base is in meltdown and the leaks just so happen to be at the exact same time. Surely the leaks would have come last week to give everyone a boost going into the season. Not after the shambles we saw at the weekend.

The Cult of Bale always welcomes newcomers... come one, come all. Many of us have held vigil for this moment, the end of days (away from Spurs) is nigh!

Also to all the balance sheet experts can some one please tell me how the club used to function in a 36k stadium on half the TV revenue and no CL money. As our income streams have changed dramatically since then also we lost out on 5 games last season at home. You are all talking as if we have had a year playing behind closed doors. Explain to me how Aston Villa can spend 80m in this window (if the other two signings go through) when they werent making over 3m a home game for 14 league games they had no CL revenue and we made millions more from league position/tv revenue and have only had orem money for 1 season. Our wages are only 40% of turnover. Now unless matchday revenue accounts for 60% of income we are more than capable of surviving as a club in the midterm.

But what about the gaga, guns and roses concerts and the boxing oh and dont forget summertime ball and saracens what about all that money we've lost. Well that was money we have never had before so can't have dented transfer budgets as why did we have a budget in previous years. We spent more when we were mid table than we do now when we finally got to the top table. Dont be so blind

If we sign Bale, and if he is fit, he will start.
I think having Ledley on the coaching staff may help sooth any concerns over playing time, should we get Bale. He'd obviously start any important match he was fit for, but we'd have to manage his fitness which is something that you could see causing problems. With Ledley there to explain why it was necessary it's more likely to go down well with the player. Same goes for Kane if we get a decent No. 9 who would be a good rotation option IMO.
