Barcelona are struggling to register players, even if free, so no, it isn'that surprising. More money means they havve more options to sign players they really need/want.

Their issue is still salaries and they have two other right backs. Taking Aurier on would hurt them. Now they get a bit more money plus shift salary off books.

They have Moussa Wague just returned from long term injury. Dest is first choice, with Roberto and Wague taking the other minutes

They don’t need a replacement, so the money will be very appealing to them.
